After investigation and inspection, the Board finds that
the applicant's request for a 4 ' x 6 ' off-premises directional
sign as submitted in its application is reasonable. The
Board agrees with the reasoning of the applicant.
The Board- finds that strict application of the Ordinance
would produce practical difficulties or unnecessary hardship;
the hardship created is unique and would not be shared by all
properties alike in 'the immediate vicinity of the property and
in. the same .use district; and the variance will not change the
character of the neighborhood and will observe the spirit of
the Ordinance.
On motion by Mr. Doyen, seconded by Mr, Grigonis, it" was
RESOLVED; that the SOUTHOLD •TOWN REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE,"
Sunset Lane, Greenport, New York 11944, BE GRANTED a Special
Exception to the Zoning Ordinance for .permis.sion to erect an �
off_premises directional sign, SUBJECT to the following CONDI-
TIONS%:
(a) That the applicant obtain approval from the Suffolk
County Flanriirig Commission "'--and--

(b) That the applicant conform to the requirements set
by this. Board .in addition to the requirements of the Ordinance-,
as follows
._ `. (1) -. Written permission of property owner for sign
erection;, said sign- shall .continue only as- long as the proper-
-: '`:_ty owner's consent is. in effect.
(2) .:: Said sign permit is terminable at once at the
-direction' of the Board of Appeals
(3) Purpose of sign must be directional"- in the . publ.
interest as distinguished from advertising of .products or ser-
vices. "Accordingly, said sign shall bear generally -the words.. as
submitted with the appl'ication, for "same
(4) , Said sign shall .not exceed. the. size of four-.feet
by six-feet (4.' x 6').. ..
(5) Said 'sign shall -not be erected prior to thirty (30)
days--of _the event- advertised for, and said.. sign shall
be . removed-within .seven (7) days after' the date of said event
advertised-, namely, Election Day.
(6) Said sign shall not be' less than five---feet (5.' )
from any .property line;. the bottom edge of said sign shall

event. be in effect- for more than three (3) years, except by
written approval of this Board after receiving written request

This sign will be erected October lst and removed one week after
election day on November 6.

Conditions for Special Exception for Signs:
1. Written permission of property owner for sign
erection. Said sign shall continue only as
long as the property owner ' s consent is in
effect.
2. Said sign permit is terminable at once at
the direction of the Board of Appeals.
3. Purpose of sign must be directional in :the
Public interest as distinguished from adver-
tising -of products or services. Accordingly,
said sign shall bear only the following:'

YOU ARE HEREBY GIVEN NOTICE:
1. That it is the intention of the undersigned to petition the Board of Appeals of the Town of Southold
to request a (XWOKKNi� (Special Exception) (SPQiNAXNifWthe following relief: erect an off-premises
sign for use -in conjunction with political campaign
2. That the property which is the subject of the Petition is located adjacent to your property and is des-
cribed as follows: N-Main Road

3. That the property which is the subject of such Petition is located in the following zoning district:
"A" Residential & Agricultural
4. That by such Petition, the undersigned will request the following relief: erect an off-premises
sign for use in conjunction with political campaign.
5. That the provisions of the Southold Town Zoning Code applicable to the relief sought by the under-
signed are: Article III, Section 100-30, Subsection C-6f
6. That within five days from the date hereof, a written Petition requesting the relief specified above will
be filed in the Southold Town Clerk's Office at Main Road, Southold, New York and you may then and there
examine the same during regular office hours.
7. That before the relief sought may be granted, a public hearing must be held on the matter by the
Board of Appeals;that a notice of such hearing must be published at least five days prior to the date of such
hearing in the Suffolk Times and in the Long Island Travel er-Mattit u c k Watchman, newspapers published in the
Town of Southold and designated for the publication of such notices;that you or your representative have the
right to appear and be heard at such hearing.
