Box 728 Southold, New York 11971 July 25, 1984 Dear The Trustees are surveying the marine structures of Cutchogue' s creeks for the purpose of establishing the accuracy of the town records. Now in our third season, we have completed the inventories of Laurel and Mattituck creeks. Because your structure is not on land within the Trustees' jurisdiction, you are not required to obtain a permit. However, filing a grandfather permit application with the Trustees can be to- your advantage. If your structure is damaged in a storm, and you want to rebuild it, a filed grandfather permit proves that you only need a simple rebuild permit from the town. Without this proof of the structure' s prior existence, the town may require a new permit, which is expensive and time- consuming. That if future operations of the Town of Southold require the removal and/or alterations in the location of the work .herein authorized, or if, in the opinion of the Board of Trustees, the work shall cause unreasonable obstruction to free navigation, the said Permittee will be.required, upon due notice, to remove or alter this work or project herein stated without expenses to the Town of Southold. 9.
