Gil.lispie, Jr., Chairman Robert Bergen MINUTES' Herbert Rosenberg Charles Gregonis, Jr. Serge Doyen, Jr. Southold Town Board of Appeals June 5, 1958 A regular meeting of the Southold Town Board of Appeals was held at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 5, 1955, in the Town Clerk's Office., Southold, New York, .There were present: Messrs. Robert W. Gillispie, Jr.; Chairman, Robert Bergen, Herbert Rosenberg and Charles Grigonis, Jr, Absent: Mr. Serge Doyen, Jr, Also present: Mr. Howard M. Terry, Building Inspector, PUBLIC HEARING: Appeal No, 64 — application of George E. Miller of Main Street, Southold, New York, for a variance to the Zoning Ordinance under Article III, Section 304. The Chairman opened the hearing by reading application for appeal, letter to appellant advising him of date of public hearing, notice of disapproval submitted to Mr. Miller by the Building Inspector and legal notice of hearing with affidavit attesting to publication in the Long Island Traveler—Mattituck Watchman, Chairman: Is there anyone present who wishes to speak for this appeal? Mr. Miller then presented the deed referred to in his application and explained that he had purchased the property about four years ago. Deed, dated December 27, 1954, carried special restriction variances regarding reduced setbacks because of the swampy condition existing on this piece of property. There was no one present who wished to speak against the appeal. Board reviewed the filed subdivision map of Southwood, File No. 2141' and it was the unanimous decision of the Board to grant the variance on Lot No, 292 Parkway and Beechwood Lane, Southold, New York, p ♦ 1 - 2 - Southold Town Board of Appeals June 5, 1958 MINUTES., Continued PUBLIC HEARING: Appeals No. 65 on application of Bridge-Gateway Homes., A/C Andrew Hahn, Montauk Highway, Southaven, New York, for a variance to the Soning Ordinance under Article III, Sections 304, 3062 307 & 308. Chairman read application for appeal, letter to appellant advising date of public hearing, notice of disapproval by the Building Inspector and copy of legal notice of public hearing with affidavit attesting to its publication. Location of property in question: Lot No. 41, Osseo and Minnehaha. Blvd., Laughing Waters, Southold, New York. Chairman: Is there anyone present who wishes to speak for this appeal? Mr. Hahn then presented a survey of the property and stated that the proposed setback as noted on the survey was the only practical one he could come up with. Chairman: Is there anyone who wishes to speak against this appeal? There was no response and the Board again reviewed the maps and survey. Variance was unanimously granted by the Board for location of house as located on copy of map submitted., Survey by Otto W. Van Tuyl, May 152 1955. Southerly line of proposed house to parallel the southerly line of this triangular shaped lot at a distance of 10 feet. Northeasterly corner of the proposed house to be at least 15 feet from.- the northerly line of property on Osseo Avenue. Northwesterly line of house to be no closer to westerly property line than a distance of 17-1/2 feet, Minutes of the May 29th meeting were read. On motion made by Mr. Grigonis, seconded by Mr. Bergen, and carried, Minutes were approved as submitted. Mr. Stanley S. Corwin appeared for an informal discussion with the Board. Correspondence between Mr. Corwin and Mr. Terry was read by the Chairman. A lengthy discussion followed relative to the Multiple residence law. Most (of the discussion concerned a particular residence in the "A" district in East Marion, New York, where there seems to be a violation. Mr. Walter Adamson of Old Shipyard Lane, Southold, New York, appeared for an informal discussion with the Board regarding the addition of a breezeway, then a two car garage and then a four room apartment to his existing house. Mr. Adamson stated that the existing house is located on a 75 foot lot and that he would like to buy an additional 40 feet alongside of his lot and erect the additional garage and four room apartment. Board advised Mr. Adamson that under the existing Zoning Ordinance he would not be permitted to do this9 but would be permitted to erect an addition to his house by the addition of the rooms directly attached to the existing house, providing all other requirements, such as setbacks, etc. were complied with.
