TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE JANUARY 7, 195$. .A meeting of the Town Trustees was called to order by President Emmons Dean at 4 P.M. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1950. Present: Emmons Dean John McNulty Frank Dawson Philip Weiler Alvah B. Goldsmith Marion Regent_ Election of Officers was held as per law. The results were as follows: Emmons Dean, -----President .Alvah B. Goldsmith----(1lerk� .='.c'ent Marion Regent-----Secretary Mr. John McNulty was appointed Vice-President to act in the absence of Mr. Dean. Mrs . Regent was given a rising vote of thanks for her courteous and efficient performance as Secretary to the Board of Trustees . An application was received from Mr. H. G. Stepson by Edmund Zaneski for permission to dredge in Mattituck -Creek. Inasmuch as no details ij re given, the application is to be returned for further detailed description of the area involved and the disposal of the dredged materials . A general discussion of the future problems that might arise fbr the decisions of the Board of Trustees was held. It was the concensus of opinion that a long range program be devised and enacted with the cooperation of the Town Board. Minutes read and approved. Meeting adjourned at 4:45 P.M. Alvah B. Goldsmith Clerk (Check on Petrucci Application-May, 1950. ) Meeting of Nov. 4, 1950. 99 BFUTIFICATION OF OTC CRFEK & INLFT SHORE LIPID Since the town claims jurisdiction over all creeks and .inlets we submit the following recommendation's to the Town Trustees when granting permits: BULKHEADS 1 - All bulkheads be kept 4 to 6 Ft, back of average high water line 2 - On straight shore lines where a bulkhead already etxistso, permits should be granted only to continue bulkheading of same general construction and height and at the same distance from average high water line. 3- On irregular shore lines permits should be grained only to follow general shore line at the distance provided for in No.l. /+ - Any requests. for permits for bulkheads jutting out at any angle to now existing adjoining bulkheads cor extending nearer to cr below average high water line should be.given only after the written permission of the three adjoining proPerty.owners on either side of the property owner seeking a permit, MKS Mcplanation w a structure supported by spiles which a man can pass under at lour tide, l - Limit lengths up to 75 As and width up to 6 ft, being sure that any requests under consideration will not block. a natural channel, SPILES Explanation - -when. 2 or 3 spiles .are put-down and tied,togetherto prevent raising by ice they shall be considered as ore`spiles 1 In conjunction with a dock 2 on each side. and .possibly.2 mare but . in no case- projecting beyond the. out er and of the. dock, 2 - Where no dock is concerned - not over 4 and none to be sunk further than 75 f't, from average high water line and only directly in front of property of m7ner seeking permission. DREDGING:BY CRANE.FROM SHORE Any permit to fill up behind a bulkhead brings moire-water into a creek ar inlet.which,is an advantage to all concerned! 1 - Permits should only be granted for contour dredging which will not change existing average high water lines - an example of the beautiful shore line obtained can be seen on the former Roon property. 2 - Pile up dredging should only_be permitted on breaker bars ar •where the operation will be a benefit. to all shore line property owners '- an examplo of this type can be seen on properties owned by Hill and Hendrickson which would take a hurricane tide to give it a natural contour and ' hen most of it would wash back intending to fill up any other place already dredged. Marinas - Beat Yards - Fishing Stations now existing or to be located in or out of business� zone where requests are made for extending bulkheading...docking and piling beyond:average high water mark. It is recommended that permits be issued only after a well publicized public hearing is held to ascertain all angles of the project. 7/11/;7
