E S BOARD OF SOUTHOLD . .TOWN TRUSTEES Meeting of January 6, 1975 A regular meeting of the Board of Southold Town Trustees was held at 7 :30 P.M. , Monday, January 6, 1975 at the Town Board meeting room, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, with the following present: Alvah B. Goldsmith`, Chairman Douglas ' M.: Robertson. Frederick E. Gordon George Bird Absent: Philip G. Horton Also present: Loretta Hess, Loraine Terry, Orville Terry, Paul Stoutenburgh, Virginia Moore On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Gordon, it was RESOLVED that the minutes of the December 2, 1974 meeting of the Board of Southold Town Trustees be approved as submitted. Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mrr Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. The Board and those present discussed, at length, the application for a wetland permit submitted by Rev. Donald P. Brickley. It was decided to table the application, and request Rev. Brickley to furnish copies of any correspondence he has with the Board of Health for the Board 's examination. An application for a mooring permit was received from Sarah E. Raynor, 319 Champlin Place, Greenport, requesting permission to place an offshore-onshore mooring at Narrow River, Orient. This application was tabled until there is an opening in the area;�, for a new mooring. 145 A general discussion was held relative to the proposal by Edward A. Lademann, Jr. to establish a ., ildlife sanctuary in the area known as Goose Creek and that of adjoining West Creek, Southold. Individually the Board members expressed their interest in the establishment of a wildlife sanctuary in the Goose Creek area. Mr. Robertson brought before the meeting an article in the "Long Island Traveler-Mattituck Watchman" containing false information relative to the Town Trustees, =reporting sale of property in Fleets Neck Area to an individual for $500 under the aegis of the Town Trustees. " Mr. Robertson stated that the Trustees has not taken any action in the Fleet' s Neck area. On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Gordon, it was RESOLVED that the following letter be written to the "Long Island Traveler-Mattituck Watchman!' "We wish to correct an error in the January 2 , 1975 issue of your paper under an article concerning the proceedings of the Town Board and specifically referring to the "Town Trustees . " It reported "a sale of property in Fleet' s Neck area to an individual for $500 under the aegis of the Town Trustees. " "The deed referred to definitely was not issued by the Board ref Town Trustees, but was issued by a corporation locally known as "The Commoners. " This corporation legally known as the "Trustees of the Proprietors of the Common and Undivided Lands of the Town of Southold" , has no title to or jurisdiction over any lands under water in the Town of Southold - these lands being under the sole ownership and jurisdiction of the Board of Town Trustees of the Town of Southold. We respectfully urge that you assist in helping to correct the misunderstanding that may have resulted from this confusion. Under separate correspondence we will endeavor to explain the origin and functions of the "Commoners" for the benefit of those who may be interested. " Vote of the Town Trustees: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, lair. Robertson, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. Lengthy discussion was held relative to a parcel of land in Fleets Neck over which title of ownership is being determined. 146 On motion of Mr. Gordon, seconded by Mr. Bird, it was RESOLVED that the next meeting of the Board of Southold Town Trustees will be held at 7 :30 P.M. , Monday, February 3, 1975 at the Town Board meeting room, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York. Vote of�-the Board:: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, - Mr,. :Robertson, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. On motion of Mr. Bird, seconded by Mr. Robertson, it was RESOLVED that this Town Trusteesmmeeting. be adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
