A meeting of the Southold Town Trustees was held at the Town Clerk Office
on Monday, November 18, 1968, at 7 :30 P.M. with the follchng. present:
Alvah B. Goldsmith, President, Frank Dawson and George Simpson.
Since there waa not a quorum the Trustees discussed the problems on
hand and signed permits issued at the previous meeting.
An application received 75y the Corps of Engineers from Robert Kopple
for a Department of the Army permit to construct a timber jetty in
Southold Busty was discussed. The Trustees object to this project because
of the interference to navigation and a potential cause of shollowing
of the adjacent areas, particularly with creek channels dredged by
the Town and County. A copy of the letter sent to the Engineers is
attached.
ApplicaTion of Charles Gagen, Southold, N.Y,. t o dredge meadow grass

Gentlemenp
The Trustees of the Town of Southold,
Suffolk County, New York, ' wish to register their
objection to-,the proposed timber jetty in Southold
Bay. Town of Southold, ' Suffolk County, New York.
1: 'this section of the bay' is a much
travelled area for small boats and this structure
would be a hazard to navigation. _ -
2 There1are •channels on either hide
of this proposed jetty - one into Goose Creek and the
other into Reydon Shores. This jetty may result in a
shoaling of the area to-' wextent that would block
these channels and further interfere with navigation
and the public enjoyment of the area.
We respectfully request that the
application be denied.
Very truly yours,
Southold Town Hoard of Trustees
