HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-05/07/1937 Southold, New York May 7, 1937 Meeting of the Town Trustees held in the office of Terry cc Hill Southold on above date. Trustees present: Tabor? Davis Horton McNulty Meeting called to order by President Tabor. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Basford appeared before the board and asked for a lease of land under water in Mattituck Creek for the purpose of cultivating oysters and clams. He also presented a petition containing more than 100 signatures requesting the granting of his request. He specified the location asked for in the lease beginning at a point about 700 feet south of Old Mill Bridge and extending 600 ft. South on Long CreeW, vridth about 80 feet. He was instructed to present an application in writing also a map to the Trustees. Supervisor Horton was present at the meeting and took up the matter of a grant to Geo. Naugles at his property at the Old Mill, Mattituck. A letter from Attorney General Bennet to Mr. Horton was read explaining the law in regards to rights of owner of land on the highway. The Town Board had investigated Geo. Itlaugles a,.Dplication for a grant from the State Department, and found after working on case that Mr. Naugles agrees to make application for a grant for land under water from the Town Trustees to build a good bulkhead from the Old Mill to his property further north and would deed back to the Town 75 feet of said bulkhead for a dock. Dock to be put in good shape with suitable approach.- Use of dock free .to all but commercial boats, on them a nominal charge. Maintainence of the dock to be by the Town. Meeting adjourned. C.J.
