Special meeting called by President Dean
to act on appointment of Mr. Vandenborg and son of
Sayville for lease of bottom in Down' s Creek for cultiva-
tion of seed oysters as .an experiment. If successfully
produced in tlhis .area, seed oysters to be made available
at current prices and shared with other local oyster
industries proportionately.
Any seed oysters sold �.iould be sold to
local companies, if they want them, before offering to any
outside. interests.
Lease to be for three years and to be
limited to area north of bridge and not closer than 20
feet to high w ater mark along shore line of Down's Creek.
Rental for three years to be $75.00.
This lease subject to renewal upon terms
and conditions to be determined at the time of renewal.
The Board unanimously adopted a lease under
the following conditions:
If the experiment is successful, seed oysters
produced in this area are to be made available at current
market prices to other oyster companies in Southold Town
proportionately. .
Any such seed oysters not taken by local
companies after being offered may be sold to outside in_terests.
This lease to be for a period of three years
and limited to the .area north of the bridge at New Stf'folk
Avenue and not, to run closer than 20 f eet of banks along the
shore line of Down' s Creek. The rental for this three-year
period to be $75.00. This lease subject to renewal upon terms
and conditions to be determined at the time of renewal.
