HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-11/17/1951 1 November 17; 1951 38 A meeting of the Southold Town Trustees was called to order by President Emmons Dean at the Town Clerk's Office in South- old , New York at 1:00 P.M. , Saturday! November 17, 1951. Present at the meeting were the following: Emmons Dean John McNulty Frank Dawson Alvah B. Goldsmith Supervisor Norman Klipp Town attorney - R. G. Terry' Jr. The minutes of the previous meeting were read for information. Organization of the new board of Trustees resulted in the following officers being elected. President: Emmons Dean Secretary: Alvah B. Goldsmith There was considerable discussion regarding the revision of the law relating to the Town Trustees and as to the penalties for disregarding the authority of the action of the Board of Trustees. It was moved by Mr. McKulty and on vote carried that the President and Secretary of the Trustees meet with the Supervisor 9 the Town Counsel and representatives of the Town Board to draft suggested changes in the act relating to Town Trustees. This meeting to be held as soon as possible and the proposed changes submitted to the State Legislature during the coming session. The application of William L. Worth Mill Lane, Peconic' for permission to dredge out a portion of the bottom of Goldsmith's Inlet immediately in front of his property to a depth of approximately 5 feet and 20 feet in width and approximately 180 ft. in length along high water mark of said inlet was discussed. It was voted to grant this request provided the applicant will take all necessary precautions to prevent the . undermining of property of adjoining property owners and will hold the Town free and harmless from any and all claims from suits for damage. The fee is to be $25.00 for this permit. The Secretary reported receipt of payment for grant issued to Carl E. and Inez B. Vail and that original grant was delivered to Carl E. Vail. The check for $35.00 was ordered turned over to Supervisor Klipp by the President. 39 Page Two November 17, 1951 The Supervisor reported on the problems involved in acting upon the petition of the Goose Bay Civic Association to have Goose Creek Bridge raised. It was moved , seconded and carried that the President be authorized to represent the Board of Trustees at a meet- ing to be held in the Supervisor' s Office, November 19th, 1951 at 4:00 P.IVI. relating to the taking and preserving of escallops for conservation purposes. The President asked the Clerk and the Town Counsel to be present at the meeting with the records pertaining to the Escallop Ordinances. 1. Mr. Dawson was welcomed by the President as our new member and tribute was paid to the retiring member, Mr. Harry Mason. The minutes were read and approved and the meeting adjourn- ed at 3:45 P.M.
