HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-03/04/1949 March 4, 1949 A meeting of the Southold Town Trustees was called -to order by President Emmons Dean at the Town Clerk' s Office in South- old New York at 1:45 p.m. Friday, March 4, 1949. Terry, Jr. , Town Council Norman Klippli Supervisor The minutes of the previous meeting were read for information. The Board paid tribute to the memory of Mrs. Louise Goldsmith, mother of the Clerk of the Trustees by a minute of silent prayer. A letter of application from Mr. Carl E. Vail, Southold for permission to: 'l. To remove marsh grass and bog between high and low water marl_ and build up a sandy beach. 2 .To dredge from low water mark out to deep water to get a maximum of 6 ft. of water at low tide. 3. To construct a dock not over eighteen feet long and ten feet wide. 4. To put doj-rn not over six piles convenient to tie a boat or boats away from the dock. All such piles to be located in front of the property. It was moved, seconded and carried that the request of Mr. Vail be granted but that the permission to dredge be limited -to the distance from low water mark on his property to not further than the center line of the existing channel in Jockey Creek. The permit is to be issued to Firs. Inez Vail, owner of said property and 14r. C. E. Vail jointly. It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that the Town Council be requested to prepare standard forms for easements , permits and grants for the use of the Town Trustees in acting upon future requests for such documents from property owners in the `.i'ounship. 32 Pag a Two March 4, 1949 A letter of application was received from Iles . W. C. Albertsona_^Mrs. A. Alberts-on«and o h S. Gradowgk to for permission : . 1. To remove the marsh grass and bog between high and lota water mark and build up a sandy beach. 2. To build a dock not over fifteen feet long and five feet wide in front of each property. After consideration, it was regularly voted to grant permits . to the above individuals as -requested. A letter of application from the Goose Bay Civic Association, Charles F. D' Long, Jr. , President, was -read regarding permission 'to dredge th8 channel of Goose Creek -at a distance of some 2000 feet inside the bridge and.1000 .feet -into Southold Bay starting from the bride. - After considerable discussion the follow ing resolution was adopted.. WMREAS, -Goose Bas.r Civic . Assocation has requested the Town Trustees of the noun of Southold to grant per- mission to dredge for a distance of 2000 feet in Goose Creek and 1000 feet in Southold Bay, to provide a channel 30 feet wide and six feet deep and, WIER}EAS, it is the opinion of this Board that said dredging will be beneficial to the surrounding property and to the Town of Southold, THEREFORE, be it resolved that said petition be granted, upon proper application be made, TI-REREFOR.E, and. subject to wri teen, and acknow- ledged approval of adjoining property owners and subject furt-or to written approval of disposal areas. It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that the fees for the applications which were formerly granted t,,oula be as follows: Carl E.
