A meeting of the Southold Town Trustees was called to order
by President Emmons Dean at the "Supervisor' s Office? Greenport,
New York at 1:45 p.m. , Saturday' September 18, 1948.
Present at the meeting wre the following:
Emmons' Dean, President
Harry Mason
Lyle F. Tuthill
Alvah Goldsmith) Clerk
Norman Klipp, Supervisor
The minutes of the previous meeting were read for information.
Charles Wooley, General Manager of the J. & J.W. Ellsworth Company,
appeared before the Board requesting a grant of land under
water in front of the property of J.& J.W. Ellsworth Company,
which has been used for many years by them bor planting oysters
and clams. He submitted maps showing the property involved,
It was ordered that the Clerk of the Board of Trustees consult
the Town Attorney with respect to the rights of the Town to
issue such grants and that no rights of the Town be surrendered
to New York State and Mr. Wooley be advised of the proper pro-
cedure that would be required to further consider this requert,
Mr. Norman Klipp, Supervisor of Southold Town7 appeared before
the Board to present arguments in favor of enacting a Towh
Ordinance with regard to the taking of clams in Town Waters,
for the approval of the Trustees. The attached resolution
was adopted by the Town Trustees and copies of the proposed
ordinance were ordered sent to the Town Boardfbr enactment
in the proper manner.
Town Council Terry had mailed two copies of a Gf'ant authorized
by the Board on July 13, 1946 to Dr. James D'Wolf and these
documents were signed by the Board of Trustees and one copy
was ordered filed with the Town Clerk and cone copy delivered
to Dr. James D'Wolff and the payment of $100,00 plus legal
fees collected.
Meeting adjourned at 3:20 p.m.
