The organization meeting of the Trustees of the T0wn of Southold
was held at the Town Clerk' s Office, January 8, 1944 at 1:30 p.m.
The members present were Mr. Fred Tabor - Orient
Mr. Emmons Dean - Green_port
Mr. Steuart W. Horton - Cutchogue
Mr. Leroy S. Reeve - Mattituck
Mr. Alvah B. Goldsmith - Southold
Town Council Mr. George. C. Terry - Southold
The members were sworn in by Town Attorney George C. Terry.
The minutes of the last meeting on December 18, 1943 were read
for information. Mr. Fred Tabor presided at the organization
meeting of the Board and the following members were elected as
officers of the Board of Trustees:
Mr. Emmons Dean - President
Mr. Alvah B. Goldsmith - Clerk (Sec'Sr and Treas. )
Mr. Dean spoke in acceptance of his new office and made ac-
knowledgement on behalf of the Board of the splendid service
that has been rendered to the Board and to the Town by our
retiring President - Mr. Fred Tabor, who has served as Prresddent
of the Board since July 16, 1931. Mr. Dean pledged his best
efforts to the duties of President of the Board of Trustees.
Mr. Tabor expressed his pleasure at the cooperation the Board had
always shown and stated that he felt he had served his time as-
President and was happy to turn over the duties to Mr. Dean.
Town Council George Terry advised the Board to keep a copy of the
minutes of the meetings of the Board at -the Town C1erkfs Office
as a matter of public record.
The Town Board having called a public meeting regarding: Town
Ordinance governing the taking of escallops from Town waters - the
members of the Board of Trustees were requested to attend this
meeting at the Fire House, Southold at 2:00 p.m. , January 12, 1944.
Totinz Council George Terry reported that he had served a copy of
the above resolution on the Town Clerk prior to the meeting of
the Town Board.
On motion duly passed, the Clerk was instructed to draw $15.00
from the funds on deposit for the purpose of paying for incidental
expenses of the Board.
i It was suggested that the Board procure a regular minute book for
the preservation of the records of the Board - to begin with this
mmeting. The bill for this book to be presented to the Tom. Board.
The old minute books of the Board of Trustees are to be located if

possible and filed with the Town Clerk.
Minutes read and approved.
Meeting adjourned at 2:50 p.m.
