HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-08/07/1972 25 M I N U T E S BOARD OF SOUTHOLD TOWN TRUSTEES Meeting of August 7, 1972 The Southold Town Trustees met at the Town Clerk ' s Office, Main Road, Southold, New York on Monday, August 7, 1972 at 7 :30 P.M. with the following present: Alvah B. Goldsmith, Chairman, George A. Simpson, Philip G. Horton, Rudolph Johnson and Judith T. Boken, Secretary. Absent: Douglas M. Robert'sTon. Mr. James Knowles appeared before the Board to present a sketch of existing moorings at Richmond Creek, off Indian Neck Lane,, Peconic. Six permits have been issued for moorings in this area, however, there are ten boats moored there at present. The Secretary was instructed to contact Bay Constable Januick and ask him to investigate the situation. Mr. Donald Aldrich appeared before the Board to present his applica- tion for mooring. On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Johnson, it was RESOLVED that Donald Aldrich, Minnehaha Boulevard, Southold, New York, be granted permission to place a mooring in Corey Creek, Southold, opposite the end of Opeche Avenue, Laughing Waters,, all in accordance with the application submitted. Fee $1.00 paid. Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, .Mr. Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson. The Board reviewed the application of Mary Ober, Bayview, ' Southold, Mr. Patrick Carrig represented Mrs.. Ober. It was determined that the proposed bulkhead is necessary as there is considerable erosion in this area, also, the bulkhead would be on the applicant' s own property. On motion of Mr: Simpson, seconded by Mr. Horton, it was RESOLVED .that _MarV. Ober, Bayview,. , Sou,thold, .New-:York, be .granted permission to erect a bulkhead on her property on private road off Bayview Road, Southold. Said bulkhead to be 50 ft. with returns of 5 ft. and-8 ft. , all-in accordance with the application submitted. Fee $5. 00.• Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson. 26 Mr. Patrick Carrig appeared before the Board to present application of Donald Treharne. (Bay Constable. Januick checked this area and said the adjoining dock does not obstruct navigation. ) On motion of Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Horton, it was RESOLVED that Donald Treharne, Mill:-Creek Drive, - Southold, New York, be granted permission to construct a dock 3 ft. by 18 ft. , ramp 3 ft. by 8 ft. , float ,5 !ft: by 14 ft.., total 148 sq. ft. , and two pilings at his property on Mill Creek, Southold, New York, all in accordance with the application submitted. Fee $16. 80. Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson. On ,motion of Mr: Johnson, seconded by Mr. Simpson, it was RESOLVED, that Albert K. Monsell, Jr. , Grand Avenue, Mattituck, New York, be ,graftted permission to place moorings (on-shore and Off-shore) at the foot of Knollwood Lane in Mattituck Creek, Mattituck, New 'York, all in accordance with the application submitted. Fee $2. 00. Vote cf the Board: Ayes : Mr. -Goldsmith, Mr. Simpson.,- Mr. ' Horton, Mr. Johnson: ' Mr. Charles McNeilly resubmitted his application of June ,l, 1'972 ' for a floating dock, ramp' and pilings . On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Simpson,, it was RESOLVED that Charles McNeilly, Goose Creek, off private right- of-way, Southold, New -York, be granted permission to. build. a . floating dock 6 ft. by 20 ft. , ramp and 6 pilings at' his property on Goose Creek, Southold', all in''acco'rdance with- the application submitted. Fee $`23 . g0 paid. " Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. ' Goldsmith, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson. The Secretary was instructed to contact Bay Constable Jahuick and request hime to investigate a report of filling being done by Carl Guiler on Mattituck Creek. On motion of Mr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Simpson, it was RESOLVED that' Glenn E. Moon, -Main Road, Orient, New York, be granted permission to place moorings - off-shore 'stake with gully line to on-shore stake in creek off Orient Harbor, off land of John B. Polyn, Grand Avenue, Mattituck, New York, ' be granted permission to place a mooring - (off-shore stake with pully line to on-shore stake) in Mattituck Creek, at the- foot of Knollwood Lane, Mattituck, New York, all in accordance with the application submitted. Fee $2. 00 paid. Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson. 27 On motion of Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Johnson, it was RESOLVED that Robert Cooper, Osprey 'Nest" Road, , East Marion,. New' York, be granted permission to place a mushroom mooring in Gull Pond in front of his- property' on Osprey Nest Road, all. in accord- ance with the application submitted. Fee $-1.00 paid. Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Simpson, Mr. ' Horton, Mr. Johnson. On motion- of Mr. 'Horton, seconded by Mr.' Johnson, ' it was RESOLVED that Frank J. Daniels, 400 Mott Cove Road South, Roslyn Harbor, New York, an-' upland owner. (Lot 46) of property on Snug Harbor Road, East Marion, be granted permission to place a mushroom mooring in Gull Pond, off Snug Harbor Road, East Marion. Fee $1. 00 paid. Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Sititpson; Mr. .Horton, Mr. Johnson, An application was received from William A'. Kennedy, Fleetwood Road, Cutchogue, New York, requesting permission to extend his dock located off:Fleetwood Road on East Creek. The Board will investigate the site. On motion of 'Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Johnson, it was RESOLVED that Veljko J. Krstulovic,, South Drive, Shore Ac"res, - Mattituck, New York , be granted permission- to-' build - two docks-4 ft. by 20 f t. ' each, ramp 4 ft. by 9 ft. , float 9 ft. by 20 ft. , with 6 pilings at his property on Mattituck Creek, Shore Acres , Mattituck, New' York, all in accordance .with the application submitted. Fee $43. 60. Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson: The Board examined the. application of Carl: Distenfeld, Salt Lake Lane, Mattituck, ori_ James Creek, for permission.,to construct. a dock, ramp and float. - .The. �oard:will investigate: the site. Letters were received from Frank G. Hundley, Goose Bay Estates, Southold, relative to mooring permits #546 - Otto Macomber, #548 - Andrew Lutkowski, and #458_ - Alfred .Weimann-. :- :.Mr. Hundley is the owner .of Lots 168, - 169, _ 170, . 171 in Goose-Bay Estates-and has granted permission to the aforementioned.-individuals to :place moorings in front of his property. He wishes to go on record as consenting,- to the granting of the above permits to Macomber, Lutkowski and Weimann, but for their use only, and not transferrable to future owners: of their property.' _ Mr. - Hundley' s letters:-were placed_-.on-_ . file On 'mo'tion' of Mr. Simpson, seconded by` Mr. F.Horton',. it was_' : RESOLVED that the Board of Southold Town Trustees recommends' to_ the Southold Town Board the approval of wetland application #6 by Russell Allan Stassen for permission to .build a wood walkway across the meadow at his propetty on Stillwater Avenue, Cutchogue, 28 New York. This open type of construction has been..:urged by the. Town Trustees in .the past, prior..to , the passage- of. the Wetland Ordinance. It allows for the rise and fall of. tide and will in. .- no way interfere with the ecology..of the area: Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, .Mr. Simpson;. Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson. The Board examined the application of Russell A. Stassen, 135 Seaman Road, Jericho, New York, for a boat mooring and two. floating docks at his property at Stillwater Avenue, Plot A',on map of :M...S.. Hand, Cutchogue, New York, on.'Eugene Creek.. The Board will. investigate the site. On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Johnson, it was RESOLVED, that the Board of To,,zn Trustees:. objects to application #7 of John Lusk, Riley Avenue, Mattituck, New York, for. permission to fill wetlands. This proposal would not be in the best interests of the ecological program. Vote ,of the Board: Ayes.: Mr. .Goldsmith, Mr. . Simpson, Mr:; ,Horton, Mr. Johnson.. On motion of Mr. Johnson, -.Seconded by Mr. . Simpson, . it was RESOLVED .that the Board of Town Trustees objects to .the- application of Arthur ,W. Sauer, Riley Avenue, Mattituck, New: -York, for permission to fill wetlands. This proposal..would not be. in. the best interests of .the ecological•"program. - Vote of 'the Board: Ayes : Mr. .Goldsmith, Mr. Simpson, : Mr:". Horton, Mr. Johnson. On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Simpson, it was RESOLVED that Alvin Smith, New Suffolk Avenue, Mattituck, New York, be granted permission to construct 12Q2ft. of bulkhead, all on his- own property., on Halls Creek, Mattituck, " New York, all in accordance with the application-, submitted. Fee $5.00. - Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson. On motion of Mr..
