BOARD OF SOUTHOLD TOWN TRUSTEES
Meeting of July 10, 1972
The Southold Town Trustees met at the Town Clerk ' s Office, Main
Road, ,S,outhold, New .York,. on Monday, July 10,, 1972 at 7 :30 P.M. ,
with the following present:
Alvah B. Goldsmith, Chairman, Douglas M. Robertson,
George A—Simpson, Philip G. Horton,_ Rudolph Johnson,
and Judith T.. Boken, Secretary. .
On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Robertson, it, was
RESOLVED, that Jerome B. Lewin, 875 Oak Avenue, Goose Bay Estates,
Southold, New York, be granted a refund of $1. 00, which was paid
by him on May 3 , 1972 for a mooring permit. at Goose Bay .Estates.
Said mooring permit No. 702 , Stake No. 292 was revoked on June 5,
1972 , as written permission from the upland owner had not been
obtained by Mr.. Lewin and he has been unable to find another
suitable mooring site: ;
Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr.
Simpson, Mr,. Horton, Mr. Johnson.
The application of Charles C. McNeilly was again brought before
the Board. The Secretary was_ . ins,tructed to forward a new set of
applications- to Mr. McNeilly asking him to refile with complete
plot plans and plans for his proposed dock.
The Board, received application No. :6 for.. a wetland permit by Russell
Allan Stassen, 135 Seaman Road, Jericho, New York, pertaining to
property at, Cutchogue on Eugene Creek, Reserved Plot A,, M.S . Hand
Map 1280, Section 2 - Stillwater Avenue. --The Board will investigate
the site.
Mr. Patrick, Carrig -appeared before .the Board to present applica-
tion- of Mary Ober-,. :Bayview. Road.,:. Southold, for permission to -build
a bulkhead on..her.-.propetty. -facing Corey Creek. Mr. Carrig stated
that .they propose to place the bulkhead 5 ft. and 8 ft. below _the
property .line _on.. Corey Creek.
On motion of Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Horton, it was
RESOLVED that Mary Ober be denied permission to bulkhead below
her property . line on .Corey..Creek, south side..right-of-way off .
Bayview Road, Southold, New York.

The Board examined the application of Broadwaters Cove Association
for maintenance dredging.

On motion of Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Johnson, it was
RESOLVED, tha t.Broadwa.ters' Cove Association be granted permission
for maintenance dredging at the foot of Mason Drive, Cutchogue,
New York, removing 35 cu. yards of fill and placing it on their
own beach, all in accordance with the application submitted.
Fee $5.00.
Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr.
Simpson, Mr. Horton,Mr. Johnson.
An application was received from Miriam B. Conant, 1261 Madison
Avenue, New York, New York, for permission to construct a dock.
On motion of Mr. Robertson,- seconded- by Mr. Simpson, - it was
RESOLVED that Miriam B. Conant be granted permission to 'construct
a float 30ft. by 6 ft. and ramp 12 . ft.by 2 . 5 ft. (210 sq. ft. )
at her property off Inlet Lane Extension, on Gull Pond, Greenport,
New York, all in accordance with the application submitted. Feb
$21. 00.
Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr.
Simpson, `Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson.
The Board received applications from Russell A. Stassen,. 135
Seaman Road, Jericho, New York, for permission to-construct
two floating docks- and place' a' mooring at his property on Still-
water Avenue, facing East Creek, -Cutchogue, New York. - The
Board will investigate the site.
The Board -received the application of Eugene B. Martens; Jr: ,
Bay Avenue, 'Cutchogue, New York.'
On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Horton, it was
RESOLVED that Eugene B. Martens , Jr. be granted permission'to
place a mooring , 10 ft. inside his easterly property line at
Broadwaters Cove, Cutchogue, `New York., Fee $1.00 paid. -
Vote of the Board:` Ayes : Mr: Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr.
Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson.
The Board received the application of Mervin Raynor, East Legion
]give, Mattituck, -New York,' for permission to repair and extend
bulkhead return, add pilings and stringdrs as needed. Upon
investigation of this application, it was determined this new
construction is entirely .on the applicants own property and
therefore does not come under the jurisdiction of the Town
Trustees.
On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded' by Mr. Horton, it was
RESOLVED that Bruce Bumble, 319 Fourth' Avenue, Greenport,' New
York be granted Town Mooring #9 (2 stakes - on-shore and off-
shore) , at Town landing off Manhanset Avenue, on Sterling -Creek,
Greenport, New York, all in accordance with the application
submitted. Fee $2 :00. paid, -
Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, : Mr. Robertson, Mr.
Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson.

On motion of Mr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Simpson, it was
RESOLVED that Raymond Rochefort, 14 Greenport-. Homes, . Greenport.,. .,
New York be granted Town Mooring ##10 (2 stakes - on.-shore -and
off-shore) at Town landing off Manhanset Avenue, on Sterling
Creek, Greenport, New York, all in accordance with the application
submitted. Fee $2 .00 paid.
Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, .Mr. Robertson.„Mr. .
Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson.
On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Robertson, it was
RES,OLVE'D; that Warren Horton, 502 Carpenter Street, Greenport,
New York be granted Town Mooring #11 (2 stakes - on-shore and
off-shore) at Town landing off Manhanset Avenue, on Sterling
Creek, Greenport , New York, .all in accordance with the application
submitted. Fee $2 .00 paid.
Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr.
Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson.
Application was received from William M. Lees, Southold, requesting
a mooring.
On motion of Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Johnson, it was
RESOLVED, that William M. Lees, 75 Osseo Avenue, Laughing Waters,
Southold, New York, be granted a mooring (off shore stake with
pully line to onshore stake) at the foot of Opechee Avenue at
Corey Creek, Southold, New York, all in accordance with the
application submitted. Fee $2. 00.
Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr.
Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Johnson.
Application was received from Alvin Smith, New Suffolk Avenue,
Mattituck, New York, requesting permission to construct a
bulkhead at his property on Halls Creek, Mattituck, New York.
The Board will investigate the site.
Mr. Johnson advised the Board that he has had complaints relative
to moorings placed in James Creek, Mattituck, New York, by Carl
Distenfeld. Mr. Distenfeld has permit No. 425 for only one mooring.
~ The Secretary was instructed to contact Bay Constable Januick and
advise him of the situation.
On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Simpson, it was
RESOLVED that the next meeting of the Board of Town Trustees will
be held at 7 :30 P.M. , Monday, August 7, 1972 at the Town Clerk
Office, Main Road, Southold, New York.
Vote of the Board: Ayes : Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr.
Simpson, Mr. Horton, Mr. . Johnson.

RESOLVED that the minutes of the Board of Southold Town Trustees
of June 5, 1972 be approved;,as submitted. _
