Y. 11971 PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS John Wickham, Chairman Henry Malsa Alfred Grebe William Unkelbach Frank Coyle MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING OF PLANNING BOARD Monday June 24,. 1968 There were present, Messrs: John Wickham, Alfred Grebe, Henry'Moisa, Frank' Coyle, William'Unkelbach, Howard Terry. The meeting was called to order' at 7:30 P M. by-Chairman John'Wickham. The matter of revising the- Subdivision Regulations to conform to the new Highway-Specifications and Rules as recently adopted by the Town Board was thoroughly gone over. It was agreed to hold a hearing on these as soon as all proposed changes are ready. This will be held open:until the "Master Plan" material has .been checked out and approved. The'Fishers Island section: of the Raymond & May -Booklet' ll was reviewed so that Mr. Grebe will not have to attend other "sectional" meetings. It: w.as agreed by all that the Golf- Course on: the east- end of the' Island and the 9 hole course on. the west- end of the' Island be shown on the final map as private golf courses to be kept in the "open area program. " Also another area will have to be selected as public park. SPECIAL MEETING OF PLANNING BOARD -2- June 24t 1968 The golf driving range and pumping station well field at "Middle Farm" area should be, shown as an, "open area" not to be developed. The shaded area on Raymond & May map enclosed in Booklet II should be changed to delineate the line between- the' Navy Sound Lab and the 9 hole golf course -- south- side of Oriental Avenue. The- area along the south side of the airport property shown as park and recreation area will have to be removed- due to :Ohe- restrictions made in the purchase of the airport property. The business area 'on both sides, of Fox Avenue and -'the inter- ' section with north end of Crescent' Avenue should be shown and enlarged to include the' Legion Hall and dry -cleaners - possibly more. The commercial area on ,the west side of West Harbor,' including the Power Plant,. Fuel & Coal Dockj' utility company buildings,; public garagei..' yacht club marinai. etc. should be shown as well as the beach used .for' swimming etc. just north of this area. It was agreed that not enough study aas been given to the needed park and recreation- area for the west end of the Island where the- year- round population lives. There was more discussion, .of commercial development in the "Fort area" west of Silver" Eel' Cove. Further consideration of' the Fishers Island plan will be taken,'up with the Town Board before the "development plan" map is done over, It was decided to read Book II section by section and. make ' comments as they came to mind. Reading began .on page. 5 and left off at page 10 tonight it will be resumed next- Monday on page 11. There was again discussion on minimum lot size south of Route 25' and north of Route 25. It .was agreed that the' 'Planning'Board recommend' to the Town Board immediate adoption -of 20*000 sq, ft minimum lot- as well as other zoning ordinance amendments now pending. The- .land use restriction- plan, to hold agricultural land out of development was again discussed, Chairman' Wickham reported that he and Councilman' Demarest have talked with: at least 12 farmers who expressed interest in such a plan. It was agreed the "negative- easement" type� restri,ction would be the best for` Southold Townm and this will be- proposed to the Town Board. SPECIAL MEETING OF PLANNING BOARD -3-- June 24, 1968 Several requests for copies of the Master Plan were read and placed in a special folder for future reference. A letter from William' Cuff .requesting a division of the familyss 200 foot frontage on-North Sea Drive was read and Building Inspector was directed to, answer same and request map of property for our file.
