SOUTHODD TOWN PLANNING BOARD
October 14, 1968
A regular meeting of the Southold Town Planning Board was
held at 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, October 14, 19680 at the Town Office,
Main Road, Southold . , New York.
There were present: Messrs: Henry Moisa, Vice-Chairman, William
Unkelback, Frank Coyle, Alfred Grebe, William Wickham, Chairman, late.
Also present: Messrs: Howard Terry, Building Inspector, Otto
W. Van Tuy1, Consultant.
Saiauel Glickman, Esgm, appeared before the Planning Board in
reference to subdivision of property located off Bayview Avenue,
Arshamomque, owned by Shay-Tel Ltd. Mr. Glidanan showed a revised
plan showing the size of the canal on the property reduced to 40
feet. The Board discuss the layout of the property. It was agreed
the applicant should file for a minor subdivision.
On motion by Mre Coyle, seconded by Mr* Grebe, it was
RESOLVED that the property under discussion at Bayview Avenue,
Arshamomque, .should be filed for as a minor subdivision, property
owned by Shay- Tel Ltd.
Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Mry Moisa, Mr. Unkelbach, Mr. Grebe, MreCoyle.

Mr, Hugh Quinn appeared before the planning Board with a revised
plan of his property located at New Suffolk, This was the former Lowe
property, Said plan was revised September 19$ .1968c There are four
lots in this subdivision, area is 2,47 acres@
On motion by We Coyle, seconded by Mrd Grebe, it was
RESOLVED that Hugh Quinn file for a minor subdivision on his
pm perty located at Jackson Street, New sSuffolk, New York,

Mr, Willuam Smith appeared before the Planning Board in regard to
the Subdivision Shorecrest,located at Southold, The. Board tAvised Mr,
Smith thAt he would have to get approval of the layout of the Highways
from the Superintenden t of Highwayso No further action was taken on
this subdivision,
The developers of the property to be known as Jackson's Landing
appeared before the Planning Board in regard to proposed roads in
the subdivision, The developers request that the roads inthe
subdivision be kept private. They were advissed they could keep the
r oads private if the wish, however, they would still have to meet
all the Highway Specifications of the Town of Southold, plus they
would have to have a road terminating at the waterfront. This
property on theiraterfront shall be labeled on the map as "Reserved
for beach and possible highway dedication".
Mr, George Ahlers appeared before the Planning Board in regard
to subdividing and dredging of .property located off Wells Road, Southoldm
A very lenghty discussion was held on the dredging project, The width
will be reduced from what was originally plannedo Type of bulkheading
to be used was discussedq the effect on the surrounding properties,
and the different specifications to be met for the canal. It was
agreed that the Soil and Conservationist should be consulted on this
project and any decision would have to wait for a report from him,

Mrs John Wickham reported that he has obtained permission
from the Southold Town Board of Trustees for the dredging project that
came before the Planning Board last month. He further reported that
he will obtain assistance, for paying for the project.
The property of Jimmy Dean, Cutchogie was discussedm It was discussed
as to, the layout of the property, . It was reported. that the Health Deportment
will approve two lots with less than 202000 square feet. Also the highway
1 ayout must he approved by the Superintendent of Highways, No action
was taken on this subdivision,
A layout fox a minor subdivision for Jenny Lester, private Road
off Westphalia Road, Mattituck, new York, was discussed. Suggested
changes in the layout of the property were made. The attorney for
the application will be advised of the suggested changes.
The next regular meeting of the Southold Town Planning Board will
be November 62 1968s at the Town Office, Main Road, Southold., New York.
The hearing fox the' amendwnts to the Subdi%Usion Rules and Regulations
will be held on this date at 7:30 PMe
The Chairman reported that he had met with the Town Board, at his
request, to straighten out the problem of highways in old subdivisions
meeting the present highway specifications. In general, the specifications
that were in force at the time the subdivision was approved will be
binding on that subdivisions They haven't talked about cases were
the subdivision has been staftpd but no actual work was done on ito
On motion by Mx. Grebe, seconded by Mre Moisa' it was
RESOLVED that the Southold Town Planning Board send their
engineer.,-Charles Abrahams, inspect the Roads in Eastern Shores,
and determine whether or not they meet the highway specifications that
were in effect at the time the subdivision was approvede If the not
they must obtain a performance bond or fix the roads to meet the
specifications,

RESOLVED that the minutes of the Southold Town Planning Board
dated September 16, 1968, be approvede

A plan of property owned by Winfred Clark was presented to
the Planning Boards She intends to set off property and build a
house on a parcels This property fronts on Oceanside Avenue
and is being sold to.Robert Reid.a
