September 16, 1958
A regular meeting of the Southold Town Planning Board was held on
September 16, 1958 at 8:00 P.Y. in the Town Clerkts Office, Southold,
New Y ork.
Present were Ifessers John i;fickham, Chairman; Harold R. Reeve, Alfred
Grebe, Arcihbald N. Young, and Henry F. aloisa.
Also Dresent were IVIessers: Howard M. Terry, Building Inspector, Otto
Van Tuyl, and Robert I f. Tasker, Town Counsel.
A petition was received from the Nassau Point Property 'Owners Association
in regard to Petrucci and his parking of trucks.
The Clerk read the Minutes of the August 19, 1958 meeting which were approved,
subject to correction.
The applications of George Smith & Son, Irving Latham, and Valentine.
Ruch IV as suggested, are to beheld over until the next meeting of the
Planning Board.
In regard to the matter of the petition of Valentine Ruch, it was the
decision of this Board that the application be turned overto Mr. Van Tuyl
and be held for further study.
The petition of Angelo Petrucci for a change of zone from NOi Residential
and Agricultural District to t%C" Industrial District certain real property
located on Sound View avenue, Peconic, bounded and described as follows:
On the North by Tisdale 3701 and Sound View avenue 5601 i on the East by
Smith and Long Island Produce & Fertilizer Co. Camp 1030 — to the South by
Case 8751 and to the ;�`est by Stepnoski- 11601 and Tisdale"2501 . It was the
determination of the Board to:
RESOLVE,. That the Planning Board recommend that the above be granted and
in vietri. of the fact that this Board has made an extensive and exhausted study
of the Sand and Gravel Pit Uperations in our Town, we feel that this action is
in the best interest of the Town of Southold.

The Planning Board discussed whether or not they felt the Toiin of Southold
should license or regulate Sand and Gravel Pits and this topic shall be discussed
more fully at a .future date.
In the matter of petition of William Sorenseon, residing at Orient for a
change of zone from UWU Residential and Agricultural District to ni10' Multiple
Residence District certain real property situated at Navy Street & Village Lane,
Orient: Beginning at a point formed by the intersection of the easterly line of
Bay Avenue (nova Village Lane),a.with the southerly line of Navy Street; running
thence easterly along the Southerly line of Navy Street one hundred twenty nine (129)
feet more or less to the lands of Stevenson; thence along the yTesterly line of lands
last mentioned one hundred forty two (142) feet more or less to lands of Harris
one hundred eighteen (118) feet more or less to the Easterly line of Bay Avenue (now
Village Lane); thence Northerly along the Easterly line of Bay Avenue one hundred
thirty five (135) feet more or less to the point or place of beginning. It was the
determination of the Board to:
RESOLVE, That after a long period of discussion the Board decided to look into
some of the alternatives and hold Mr. Sorenson!s application up.
The Chairman selected Itdessers I,doisa and Young as committeemen to investigate
the feelings of the people in the immediate neighborhood in regard to the above
application.
By request of the members, a letter was written to Mr. Frank Robinson, Jr.
asking him to submit the information previously asked for regarding the width of
roads in question.
After much discussion and debating on the Proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendments,
it was the determination of the Board to:
RESOLVE, That The Planning Board recommend to the Town. Board that paragraphs
9A and 703B, including not only a, b, but also c be subject to approval.
Many of the topics bought up for discussion at this meeting caused quite a
controversey among the members, so the Board felt it would be a good idea to
meet with the Trnvn Board and the Board of Appeals to settle the differences in
opinion; therefore, it was the determination of the Board to:
RESOLVE, That the Planning Board request a meeting with the Town Board and the
Board of Appeals at their earliest convenience to discuss the Proposal amending of
Zoning Ordinance to provide that lots may be divided, providing that all structures
thereon comply with the provision -of 'the Ordinance, and other matters.
The application of 1„illiam King was presented at this meeting and will be taken
up at the next meeting of the, Planning Board.
It was decided that this Board also should bring to the attention of the Town
Board the fact that the accessory potatoe buildings are limited to lg feet and it
should be a little more.
There was a discussionconcerning the roads in Terry U'�aters. It was decided
that Harold Price, Superintendent of Iiighways, should be contacted for approval
of the dirt roads as to whether they are passable or not.
