PLANNING BOARD

A regular meeting of the Southold Town Planning Board was held at 4 P.M.,
May 28, 1957, at the Greenport office.
There were present: Mr. John Wickham
Mr. Harold R. Reeve
Mr. Charles Van Duzer
Mr. Henry Moisa
Mr. Alfred Grebe
Also: Mr. Norman Klipp, Town Supervisor, Mr. Otto Van Tuyl and
Mr. Howard Terry, Building Inspector.
The board studied the Smith brothers petition for subdivision of IlKennewood°,
property of the Southold Development Corporation. By unanimous vote the board
adopted the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That the Southold Town Planning Board recommend to the Town Board,
for approval, Map dated January 9, 1954, and approved by the Town Board as of
January 26, 1954, and, in addition, that Lot No. 17 be recommended to the Board
of Appeals as an immediate variance.
The board also studied Map dated May 23, 1957, Great Pond, Sound View Hei&ts,
property of G. W. Smith & Sons, and unanimously agreed on the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That preliminary plan be recommed to the Town Board for approval,
with the exception that we suggest that two lots be made from existing lots
numbered 3, 4 and 5.
The board studied map of Marion Manor, dated November 25, 1952, property of
Mr. Blank, at the request of Mr. Jamieson who holds option on several lots
(1001 minimum). It was unanimously agreed as follows:
RESOLVED, That we recommend to the Town Board approval of map of Maxion
Manor at East Marion which was filed November 25, 1952.
The board read Mr. Walter G. Kappls letter to the Town Supervisor, regarding
the Margery Burns property, "Sunset Knoll11 , and reviewed the accompanying map.
By unanimous vote it Was
RESOLVED, That the Planning Board recommend to the Board of Appeals that four
lots be made out of the existing six and one—half lots, as indicated on map ac—
companying letter, dated May 24, 1957, to the Town Supervisor.

Minutes of the May 16th meeting were read by the Chairman. On motion made by
Mr. Van D uzer, seconded by Mr. Reeve, and carried, Minutes were approved.
It was decided, by unanimous agreement, that future meetings would be held
on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, at 4 otclock in the afternoon.
The next regular meeting to be held on June 18th, with the following tentative
date to be July 2nd. Clerk to send out notices of meeting a few days in advance
of each meeting to each member of the board.
Mr. Van Dozer asked to be excused as a member of the board and offered to
stay on until the board was able to find someone to replace him. Mr. Wickham
expressed his regret on losing Mr. ;fan Duzer as a member and thanked him for all
his valued assistance in the past.
The board then reviewed the preliminary plot of "ORIENT BY THE SEA" — Section
One and took the following unanimous action:
RESOLVED, That the layout receive tentative approval.
The following resolution by the Town Board was read to the members by
Mr. Wickham:
"Resolution was dffered by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill
and was unanimously adopted by the Town Board on May 21, 1957:
RESOLVED: That the members of the Southold Town Planning Board
be compensated for expenses necessarily incurred to carry out
the duties of their office and that they be compensated at the
rate of Eight Cents ($.08) per mile for the use of their auto—
mobiles excluding transportation to and from meetings.11
