Reeve Southold Town Planning Board Henry Moisa October 29, 1957 Alfred Grebe T. Paul Montgomery A regular meeting of the Southold Town Planning Board was held at 7 P. M.-, On Tuesday, October 29, 1957, in the Town Clerk's office in Southold, N. Y. There were. present: Mr. John Wickham, Chairman Mr. Harold R. Reeve Mr. Henry Moisa Mr. Alfred Grebe Also: Mr. Herbert Rosenberg and Mr. Robert W. Gillispie, Jr., members of the Board of Appeals, and Mr. Howard M. Terry, Building Inspector. and Mr. Otto W. Van Tuyl. Minutes of the October 15th meeting were read by the Clerk. On motion made by Mr. Grebe, seconded by Mr. Moisa; and carried, minutes were approved. Voucher covering salary was submitted by the Clerk. On motion made by Mr. Grebe, and seconded by Mr. Moisa, and ,carried, voucher was approved for payment. Discussion was held on petition of James Wasson, Mattituck, N. Y. , for a change from "A° Residential and Agricultural District to 11311 Business,District, all that tract of land, situate lying and being at Mattituck, bounded on the North by land of W. Gaffney, on the South by Peconic Bay Boulevard, on the East by Bay Avenue and on the West by District Line. It was RESOLVED, That the Planning Board recommend to the Town Board that Mr. Wasson's project be approved but that it is the thought of the Planning Board that it would be advisable to have the Town Board issue a special permit. Mr. T. Paul Montgomery of Southold, N. Y., was then introduced to the members of the Board by the Chairman. The Chairman explained that Mr. Montgomery was to fill the vacancy left by Mr. Charles Van Duzer's resignation as a member of the Board. Board studied petition of Angelo G. and Georgette Petrucci for a charge from "All Residential to HBO Business certain real property situated at Bay Avenue, Peconic, N.Y. , described as Parcel One and Parcel Two. - It was RESOLVED, that the Planning Board recommend to the Toim Board that Parcel One be changed to "B° Business District. Board discussed petition of Nelson Axien and others to change from "C" Industrial to "A" Residential and Agricultural district, all that tract of land situate, lying and being at Bayview, Southold, N. Y., 12 acres more or less and owned nod✓ or formerly by Nick Mazzaferro and Sons of Greenport, N. Y. It was the unanimous decision of the Board that they saw no grounds for recommending this petition and it was RESOLVED, That the Planning Board recommend to the Town Board that the petition be denied. Board steadied petition of Arthur Mehl for a change of zone from "A" Residential to "B" Business all that parcel of laud marked 11211 on map entitled "Griffing - Cutchogue", Cutchoo e, IT. Y. It Was HESOLV.ED, That the Planning Board recommend to the Town Board that this change of zone be granted. Petition of Jack and 13z.vi g Levin, owners of certain real property on the North Road, Greenport, N. Y., fora change from "A" Residential & Agricultural District to "B" Business District. Requested change for the express purpose of expanding present Motel. It was RESOLVED, That the Planning Board recommend to the Town Board that this change of zone be granted for the express purpose of expanding. The Chairman then directed the Clerk to write Mr. Van Duzer in appreciation of his services to the Board. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, Mr. Harold R. Reeve was unanimously elected Secretary of the Southold Town Planning Board. Chairman then read a letter he had received from Mr. Uhl's attorney regarding plan of ORIENT-BY-TBE-SEA. It was RESOLVED, That final approval be given to Section One of the completed plan of ORIENT-BY-THE-SEA, but pointing out that there is not, at the present time, provision for highways to the water. Mr. Uhl is willing to compromise on the access to Long Island Sound, as per his attorney's letter of October 24, 1957. The Chairman then asked Mr. Terry to prepare a list of the sand and gravel screening operations, as well as fill pits, and junk yards in the Town of Southold. Mr. Howard Terry then asked the Board what their feeling would be toward the placing of refuse cans on the streets in the Village of Mattituck. He advised that a man had spoken to him about going into such a venture. The refuse cans would be maintained, emptied, etc. at the man's expense and it was his intention to use the sides of the cans for advertising purposes of merchants of the Town. The Board advised Mr. Terry that they could see no objection to this. 3 Southold Town Planning Board October 31, 1957 MINUTES, Continued The next regular meeting of the Planning Board will be held at 7: 0 P.W9 on Tuesday, November 19th, in the Town Clerk's office in Southold, N.
