HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-12/07/1948_ Y - Meeting of December 7, 1948 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. - Klipp at Greenport on Tuesday, December 7, 1948. The. meeting ;,was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following, present: Super- visor Klipp; Justices Terry; Tuthill;, Albertson and Clark; Town Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims against the Town, concluding the audit work, at 2:30 P.M. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and were duly approved _ as read. - > Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: _�. Re,solved: That the annual audit meeting of this Board, be held at the office of the Supervisor on Thursday, December 30th, 1948, at 1:30 P.M. r� Unanimously adopted, nr The Bond of Receiver of Taxes was presented to the Board for approval. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolved:. That Ehnd No. 05-481-525 of the American Surety Company for Receiver of Taxes , Ralph P. Cox, be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution and sufficiency of surety. Unanimously adopted. _ y Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: } Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install two additional aerial street lights in the Southold Lighting District, said lights to - ' be placed on poles No. 11 and 13 on Old Shipyard Lane, Founders Estatesi. Unanimously adopted. Moved by' Justice Terry; - seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolved: That General Bills in the amount of $3,400.72; Lighting District Bills in the amount of $1,140.49; Town Trustee Account $317. 58; Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the amount of $13,492.87, and Non-reimbursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $15.90 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. ,- Unanimously adopted. Chief of Police Anrig presented the Police report for October and November and the schedule of work for December. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That the Police report for October and November and the Police schedule of work from December 6th through January 2nd, be accepted by the Board and placed on file.. x� Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That Harold D. Price, of Peconic, be and hereby is ap- pointed a Special Constable for the Town of Southold and to serve without cofnpensation. Unanimously adopted. A letter was read from Frank E. Horn of Wickham Park, protesting the construction of a breakwater on the south side of Island View Lane at Wickham park, the matter was discussed and referred to the Town Superintendent of Highways and the Highway Committee for investi- gation and action. A letter was read from F. Gerald Hommel, President of the East Marion School Board' The matted was turned over to the Supervisor for further investigation. T , A letter was read from the New York Liquor Authority, Division of y • Alcoholic Beverage Control, pertainiFig/the enforcement of Alcoholic Y_ beaverage control law by local agencies or state agencies , was dis- cussed. The Supervisor was instructed to advise the State Liquor Authority that the Town of Southold desires to continue with local en- forcement. f� Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark: Whereas , the Commissioners of the 'Fishers Island Ferry District have heretofore and on or about the 6th day of Noizember, 1948, entered ' into a bareboat charter with the Rhode Island Navigation Company for the chartering of the vessel M.V. Yankee for the period November 81 1948 to November 11, 1948, both dates inclusive, and Whereas , the Town Board of the Town of Southold finds that in view of exigencies of the situation, an emergency existed requiring immediate action by said commissioners , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED , that the acts of said Commissioners in entering into said contract be and the same hereby is approved. Klipp, at Greenport on Thursday, December 30, 1938. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present; Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry; Tuthill; Albertson and Clark; Town Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry Terry and Town Clerk Booth. 4r The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved14� .as read. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the office of the Supervisor 'at Greenport on Fri day, January 71 1949, at 1:30 P.M. + � Unanimously adopted. The report of Justice Norman E. Klipp from December 1, 1947 to December 31, 1947., was audited by the Town Board. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: ' Resolved: That the Report of Justice Norman E.
