HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-09/21/1948 Meeting of September 21, 1948 r• The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp, at Greenport, on Tuesday, Sept. 219 1948. The meeting was called to, order at 1:30 with the following present: Super- visor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; Super® intendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read. In accordance with the notice published in the local papers, that sealed proposals would be received at the Supervisor' s Of- Tice on the 21st day of Sept. , 1948, for the construction and erection of a wire fence at the Toim Dump, the sealed proposals were opened by the Supervisor at 2 o'clock P.M. Whereas, the Town Board has received sealed proposals for the construction and erection of a wire fence at the Town Dump, and Whereas, the Town Board has examined said proposals, and , Whereas the proposals of the Atlas Fence Company did not specify ,. a definite date and did not contain a definite unchangeable - proposal, e N8w Therefore," Be It Resolved: That the bid of the Glen Metal Products Company to construct and install said fence in accor- dance with the specifications for the sum of, $1,399.00 be and the same is hereby determined to- be the lowest responsible bid and that the same be and hereby is approved and accepted. Unanimously adopted. - Mr. Bernard Kaplan, Sec. of Dawn Estates, Inc. , appeared before the Board requesting, permission to discontinue a certain road on their property at Mattittick Inlet and also requested the Board to take over a certain road on this property. The Board advised him they would consider the matter after viewing the roads in question. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Y•- Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board be held at the supervisor' s office on Monday, Oct. 4, 1948, at 1:30 P.M. Unanimously adopted. Y , A letter was read which was signed by several resident taxpayers of Bray Ave. ,, Laurel, requesting an .additional street light be installed on Bray Ave. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install one (1) additional <• street light in the Mattituck No . 2 Lighting District, at Laurel, said light to be placed on pole No . 6 on Bray Avenue. Unanimously adopted. A letter was read from the Board of Assessors, requesting an in- crease in salaries, The matter was laid on the table for future consideration. A letter was read from Dr. Olson complaining about the rubbish being dump6d,.:on Frank Macomber' s property at Greenport. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the Supervisor be authorized to communicate with Frank Macomber and order him 'to cease having rubbish dumped on his property. Unanimously adopted. 1 -7 Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: "hat Rudolph J. Hoerr of Southold, be and is hereby ap- pointed Special Constable to direct traffic at the Southold School Crossing, at Oaklawn Ave. and Main Road, at a salary of $4.00 per day for each sdhool day worked, retroactive to September ,13, ` 191,+8. Booth - Town Clerk Meeting of October 4, 1948 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Suppervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Monday, October 4, 1948. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: x Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; Town Supertendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a •Committee on audit to examine claims against the Town, concluding the audit work at 2:15 P.M. - The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark: * - Resolved: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board and the - preliminary budget meeting be held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport on Friday, October 8, 1948, at 1:30 P.M. - -r� Unanimously adopted. Chief of Police Otto L. Anrig presented the Police report for the � f month of September and the police schedule of work for the months of Oct. and Nov. v Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolved: That the Police report for the month of Sept. and the Police schedule of work from Oct. llth to Nov. 7th, be accepted by . the Town• Board and placed on file. Unanimously adopted. 1 Moved by Jus"tice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: "`That General Bills in the amount of $39880.05; Lighting District Bills in the amount of $19140.49; non-reimbursable Welfare •:� Bills in the amount of $16.90, and Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the amount of $129072.10 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
