Meeting of September 1, 1948
The annual Fishers Island Meeting of the Southold Town Board was
J ' held on Wednesday, Sept. 19 1948. The Board left Preston' s Dock
_,. at 9:15 A.M. aboard Capt. Harry Horton' s Boat9 accompanied by Sen-
ator S.W. Horton; Receiver of Taxes, Ralph P. Cox, Chief of Police,
Otto L. Anrig; George C. Terry; Assemblyman, Edmund Lupton; George
I . Tuthill; Sups. of Schools, Harry B. Ward and Meade Dobson; ar-
riving at Fishers Island about 11:30 A.M. The meeting was held in
the auditorium of the Fishers Island School, and was called. to order
by Supervisor Klipp at 2:00 P.M. with the following member of the
Town Board present: Supervisor Klipp, •Justices Shanklin; uthill
and Clark; Supt. of Highways Price, Town Attorney Terry anc. Town Clerk
Booth.'
Moved by Justice Clark- seconded by Justice Shanklin.
Whereas, the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District
, have heretofore and on or about Feb. 20, 1948, entered into a U.S.
Post Office Department subcontract for mail contract service No. S.P.T.-
._� S-17K. Feb. 25, 1948, and
Whereas, -said Fishers Island Ferry District is to receive the sum
of $6,750.00 per annum for transporting the mail on route No. 7090,
,.,. Now Therefore Be It Resolved, That the Town Board of the Town of
Southold approve and it hereby does approve the acts of said Commis-
sioners in entering into said contract.

Whereas, The Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District have
entered into a contract with the Fishers Island Farms, I c. to trans-
port U.S . Mail from and to Fort Wright Dock and Fishers Ysland Post
Office,
Now Therefore, Be It Resolved: That the Town Board of the Town of
Southold approve and it hereby does approve the acts of said Com=
missioners in entering into said contract.

Whereas, the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District have
entered into a contract with John Kaletchitz to transport U.S. Mail
from and to U.S. Post Office and Railroad Depot and Government Dock, foot
of John Street, New London, Connecticut,
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved: That the Town Board of the Town of
-. Southold approve and it hereby does approve the. acts, of said Com-
missioners in entering into said contract. ,

There were about 30 residents of Fishers Island in Attendance at the
meeting. There were lengthy discussions on the Fishers Island Ferry
District, Penninsula Road, garbage dumps and street lights.

r -a Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of ,this Board be
held at the Supervisor' s Office on Tuesday, Sept.' 7, 1948, at 1:30 P.M.
Unanimously adopted.

- Resolved: That the Resolution to ,adjourn be rescinded and that the
Town Clerk is hereby directed to reopen the meeting.

Whereas, the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District have
entered into an.amendment of a certain agreement with Mr. E.S.
Wilcox, and
Whereas, the purpose of said amendment was to conform said agreement
with the provision contained in a certain contract between said, Dis-
trict and the United States of America and certain amendments thereto,
Now, Therefore, Be It resolved: That in view of the exigencies of
the situation the acts of said Commissioners in entering into said

amendatory agreement, be and they hereby are approved. -

Meeting of Sept. 71 1948
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Su ervisor N8rman ��--
E. Klipp, at Greenport, on Tuesday Sept. 71" 19&8. The meeting
was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: � -
Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; --�
Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims _
against the Town, concluding the audit work at 2:30 P.M.

The minutes of the previous meetings were read. and duly approved as
read.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: r
Resolved: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held
at the office of the Supervisor on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1948, at
1:30 P.M.

WHEREAS, The Supervisor was heretofore, by resolution duly adopted
by the Town Board of the Town of Southold, directed to obtain
definite plans and specifications and a careful:;, estimate of the
expense of constructing and erecting a chain link galvanized
wire fence on the East and South sides of the existing Town Dump
at Cutchogue, and
WHEREAS, said plans and specifications have been made and filed with
the Town Clerk of the Town of Southold, and have been examined
b$ the Town Board, ` {
NOW, THEREFORE, E; IT RESOLVED, that said plans and specifications
be and the same are hereby approved and adopted, and be it further
RESOLVED, that this Board invite sealed proposals to be submitted
to it at 2:00 otclock P.M. , Daylight Saving Time, on the 21st day �J
of September, 1948, at the office of the Supervisor in the Village
of Greenport, N.Y. , for the construction and erection of a chain
link galvanized wire fence on the East and South sides of the
existing Town' Dump at Cutchogue, in accordance with the aforesaid
plans and specifications, and that the Town Clerk be and he is
hereby directed to prepare with the assistance of the Town Attor-
ney, proper notices, .calling for special proposals in detail, and ..
cause same to- be published in due form of law.Unanimously adopted.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed proposals are sought and
requested for furnishing all materials and doing all work neces-
sary for the performance according to specifications of a con-
tract to be let by the T014N OF SOUTHOLD for constructing and erect-
ing a chain link galvanized wire fence on the East and South sides
of the existing Town Dump located at Cutdhogue, in the To«i of
Southold, Suffolk County, New York.
The sealed proposals will be received by the Town Board at
the Office of the Supervisor in the Village of Greenport, New
York, at 2:00 o'clock P.M. , (Daylight Saving Time) , on the 21st
day of September, 1946, and will be considered publicly at such
time and place. Specifications for the execution of the .work can
be examined at the office of the Town Clerk, at Southold, New York'
between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.

10, 1948 to September 209 1948, except that •onfSaturdays the
hours will be from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon, and that the Town
Clerk' s office will not be open on Satufday afternoons and Sundays.
PROPOSALS SHALL BE MADE AND RECEIVED upon the following ^conditions: Each proposal must be accompanied by the deposit of
a certified check payable to the order of the. Supervisor of the Town
