HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-07/20/1948 _r. 1.:�'- Meeting of July 20, 1948 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp, on July 20th 1948. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. by Supervisor Norman E. Klipp, with the following Present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Clark and Albertson; Supt. of Highways Price and Town Attorney . Terry. The minutes of the last meeting were read and duly approved as read: Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice 'Tuthill: Resolved: That the next regular meeting of this board be held at the office of the Supervisor on Friday, August 6th, 1948 at 1:30 P.M. It was decided that the beach committee was to contact Mr. Alfred J. Ungerland to further discuss the purchase of the Nassau Point Causeway property. A 1, Supervisor Norman E. Klipp appointed Justices Terry and Albertson to act as a committee on taxation and finance. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be instructed to make whatever resolution is necessary at the meeting of the Board of Supervisors to have certain lands now owned by the County and located at Orient Point turned over 'to the Tbwn of Southold. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the Town Board hereby determines that an additional constable is necessary in the Tom of Southold and be it Further Resolved: That the Town Board hereby consents to the transfer -of Theodore B. Howard from the Police Department of the Village of Greenport- to the Southold Town Police Force .as Constable-Patrolman and he is hereby appointed to said position, 1 - effective Aug. lst, 1948, upon condition that the Village Board of the Village of Greenport consents to such transfer. Salary to be $7.00 per diem, payable in regular monthly installments. -. Said employee shall hold such appointive office or position at the pleasure of the Town Board unless otherwise provided by law. Unanimously adopted. Letter received from Mattituck Fire Commissioners and placed on file. Matters concerning the Fishers Island Ferry District such as mail contracts, assets and liabilities, service of an auditor, expenses � r of commissioners, and insurance were discussed.
