HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-06/22/1948 i 45. Meeting of June 22, 191+8 The Southold Town, Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp on June 22, 191+8. The meeting was called to order at1:30. P.M. by Supervisor Norman E. Klipp with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry; Tuthill; Clark and Albertson; Superintendent of Highways Price and Town Attorney Terry. The minutes of- the last meeting were read and duly approved as read. ` A delegation, consisting of Walter Luce, Marry Mason and Burnett Tuthill met with the Town Board. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the matter of the Town of Southold purchasing that property known as Nassau Point Causeway for a town bathing beach. Resolution made by- Justice Clark; Seconded by Justice Albertspn: - � Resolved: That the next regular meeting of this board be held at the ,. office of the Supervisor on Tuesday. July 6, 191+8 at 1:30 P.M. Unanimously adopted. Mayor Otis Burt and Village Attorney Costello met with the Town Board to discuss the 'plan of annexing certain lands now owned by the Village of Greenport so .that they might lie within the borders, of Greenport Village, -� Resolution made by Lester M. Albertson, a Justice' of -the Peace of the _ Town of Southold, Resolved: That whereas it is the intention of the Town Board of Y.{ the Town of Southold to establish recreation facilities and Whereas the Town of- Southold is about to submit an application for ' such a project to 'the State of New York Youth Commission for its, approval, --and if approved, to apply subsequently to the State of :New York for partial reimbursement of funds expended on such project, as provided by-Chapter 556 of the laws of- 191+5, as amended; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved; that such application is in all respects approved and Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor, is hereby dir- ected and authorized to duly execute and to present said application to the New York Youth Commission for its ap proval. Section ll: This resolution shall- ,take effect immediately. Adopted by the Following 'vote: Ayes; five, Nayes; none.. Klipp, be authorized to place insurance on all that equipment now owned by the Town. of Southold and not at present insured. Wherein his judgement is necessary. ' a 'Unanimously adopted. Klipp inform George Wetmore that the Town Board requires a physical and mental certificate as to �his. condition before resuming work as a Constable in Southold Tower. Unanimously adopted.. -� Matters concerning Fishers Island Ferry District were discussed. These.matters ;included contract with Captain' monthly reports and _-� insurance. Moored' by Seconded by Resolved: �hereas, William Kane has. been a loyal and faithful employee of the Highway Dept. of the Town of Southold for the past twenty-six �r years. During the' past eighteen years he has served the Town in the capacity of a general foreman in the:-Highway, Dept. in a capable- -and,-competent manner. '.. Whereas William Kane has been confined in the Eastern Long Island - Hospitai for three major intentinal operations and will be unable to resume his work for some time. Whereas.,.' This . illness cannot be covered by compensation insurance., 'Therefore 'be it' Resolved that the recommendation of the Supt. of Highways of the Town of Southold that William 'Kane be given "l. a sick leave of .absence with half pay for the month, of July, 194+8, Further` `corieide atio: in"regard`�to• sick 1d&Ve"to' be given this case at the expiration of this time, be and hereby is approved.
