The meeting ,was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor KlippI Justices Terry; Tuthill; Albertson and Clark; Town Superintendent of Highways, Price and Town Clerk, Booth. The Board sat at,' once as a committee on audit to examine claims,.against r- the Town, concluding the audit at 2:10 P.M. r The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved' is read. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That Welfare Officer Archie W. Symonds be and- hereby is auth- orized to purchase a check writer to be used in connection with the Welfare Office. Unanimously adopted. ►%` A letter was read from the Board of Fire Commissioners of Southold 1 ° Fire District requesting permission to erect a wooden arch over Jacobs Lane", -at Bay View, to be used by the ,Department' s Racing Team for practice.. � Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: ' That the application of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the"Southold Fire District, to erect a wooden arch over Jacobs. Lane, at Bay View, to be used by the Department' s Racing Team for practices. be approved under the Supervision of the Town Superintendent - of Highways. -. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice: Tuthill; seconded by Justice Albertson:, Resolved: That the Sanborn Map Co.- be authorized to bring the .- Sanborn Fire Insurance Ma of Southold' Town up to date, the price not to exceed the sum of 36.40. RESOLUTION WHEREAS;- Mattituck Park: District of the• Town of Southold County of Suffolk and State of New- York, a Park District duly organized in the Ai Town of Southold under the laws of the State of New York, has pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 924 of the Laws of New York for 1941, and the other laws of New York applicable hereto, voted to acquire a certain ,. parcel of real property in Mattituck adjacent to Pike Street and fully described -in the. Certificate of the Commissioners of Mattituck Park } ' District for park purposes, at a special meeting of the resident tax- r.. payers of said Park District held in and for said district at the Mattituck -Fire House on the 18th day of December, 1947, at 7 otclock P.M.., a majority of the voters present at said meeting voting in the af- firmative that said Proposition. #1 being for the purchase of said . land for the sum of Twenty-five Hundred ($2%0.) Dollars and Proposition' #2 being for $1,000. to cover the expenses of said purchase, surveying costs and improving the property as a public park, NOW, THEREFORE., upon: the application of the Commissioners of,,said Park District and pursuant to authority vested, in ,the,.Town Board of . the Town of Southold and more particularly.:by>Chapter 924 of the Laws of 1941, . RESOLVED, that said Southold Town Board issue Capital Notes' in the sum of Thirty-five Hundred ($3 500.) Dollars, to be for the acquisition of said ?!q . park property as voted upon favorably by the legal voters of said Mattituck Park District, which Capital Notes shall be . - payable not later than one (1) year from the date of issuance, and that the said Capital N tes shall be a charge upon the taxable- property within the said Mattituck Park- District. RESOLVED FURTHER, that the Supervisor issue said Notes in the name of the Town of Southold and Mattituck Park 'District and issue ' the same under the most favorable terms which Yis 'is able .to negotiate 129 and to turn over the proceeds thereof to the Commissioners of the -y Mattituck-Park District for the purpose herein mentioned. The foregoing resolution was offered and seconded at a regular meeting of- the Southold Town Board held at the office of the Super- -> visor .at the Village of Greenport', N.Y® , on February 3, 1948. Upon the .question of adoption the following voted "Aye" in favor of the resolution: Supervisor Norman E. K1ipp, 'Justices of the Peace, Ralph W.' Tuthill, Henry Clark, Harry Terry and Lester M. Albertson. The resolution, having received at least a two-thirds vote of the members of the Town Board, was declared by the Supervisor to be duly adopted. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson:. r Resolved: That General Bills in the amount of $11,357.37 and non- reimbursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $16.65 be and the -same is hereby ordered paid. Unanimously adopted, The Bond of Supervisor NormanE.- Klipp was presented to the Town Board for approval. i Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That Bond No 1S115 041 of the Aetna Casualty and Surety fyw. Co. for Supervisor Norman E. Klipp acting as Custodian of Finances of the Fishers Island Ferry District, be and hereby is approved as to- form and .sufficiency of surety. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That Chief of Police Otto L. Anrig, be and hereby is allowed $3.00 per day expense for the use of his automobile for -> police duty retroactive to Jan. 1, 1948. Unanimously adopted. ,.r Moved by Justice Tuthill; ' seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the Chief of Police be and hereby is authorized to purchase .two mattresses for use at the Police Department. -' Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark: Whereas Sec. 64 of the Town Law requires the Town Board to designate ut by resolion banks. of `this State in which the Supervisor or any other officer of the town shall deposit all monies coming into their hands by virture: of their offices and, Whereas, the Town Board may require any bank so designated to deposit with such board the bonds or certificate of the United States, of the State of New York, or any County, Town City, Village or School District of, the State of flew York as security for such funds so de- posited:, but such bonds or certificates shall be subject to the ry approval of the Town Board, and shall be deposited in such place and >. held under such conditions as the Town Board may determine, and Whereas$ the following banks have been heretofore designated. as .. depositories: ,a. Tuthill: Resolved: That the agreement made between Harold Price' Town Super- intendent of Highways of the Town of Southold and the Town .Board of such Town be approved as follows: That pursuant to the provisions .of Sec. 284 of the Highway Law .it is ; agreed that the moneys levied and collected in such Town for the • repair`'and improvement of bIghways, shall be expended as follows: . V The sum of $89$016.92 shall be set aside to be expended -for primary work and general repairs upon 125.02 miles of town highways, including _ sluices, culverts and bridges having a span of twenty feet or less ' --r and boardwalks or renewals thereof. This agreement shall take effect when it is approved by the County Superintendent of Highways,. L Receiptsq Balance highway fund $17,219.44. �.
