The Southold Town Board met at th6`6ffice.,of Supervisor Norman E.
Klapp, at Greenport on Tues. , Jan. 20, 1948'0 The meeting was called
-? to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: ''upervisor Klipp;
Justices, Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; Town Superintendent of
Highways, Price; Town. Attorney, Terry and 'own t4erk, Booth.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as
read.
Mrs. Edith M. Young of Mattituck appeared -before the Board .requesting
it to ' take over two roads at Mattituck and maintain them as public
- - highways.
The Board agreed to take over these roads as soon as - the necessary re-
quirements are met.
The bond of,, Justice Henry A. Clark was presented to the Town Board for
approval.
Moved' by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson:
Resolved: That Bond No. 1S115 024' of the Aetna Casualty and Surety Co.
_} for Justice Henry A. Clark be and hereby is approved as to form and
sufficiency of surety.

Resolved: 1hat pursuant to Sec. 102 Subd: 1 of the Town Law, each Town
-L Assessor be allowed the sum of six cents per mile for the use of his own
automobile for each mile actually and necessarily traveled by him in
the. performance of his official duties in connection with dog damage
cases.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That inasmuch as the required dedications have been duly
received, map of the same duly filed and necessary papers signed, the
Town-Board take over and maintain as a public highway. Wells Road
on the Estate of George H. Wells at Peconic.

Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill: ,
Whereas, by resolution heretofore adopted it- was voted to purchase der-
__, tain-property from James H. Zimmer and Eleanov ,Z. Barnes for the sum of
$4,800: and Whereas, the sum. of $480.00 has already been paid.
Therefore Be It-.Resolved: That the sum ®f. $4020: be paid to James H.
Zimmer and Eleanor Z. Barnes in final payment for said property upon the
execution- and delivery of a proper deed therefore and
Be It Further Resolved: That the sum of $37.69 be paid to James H'
Zimmer upon the apportionment of the' 1948-48 taxes on said property.

The certificates of the Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District
was filed with the Town Clerk until further action of the Park -
Com-missioners.

Resolved: - That the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized to sell
the old addressograph machine to Mutual Fire Ins. Co. for a price
of $25:00.
Unanimously adopted.
The Supervisor appointed Justice Tuthill and Justice' Clark to act as
a committee on parks and recreation.

Resolved: .1hat the regular, vionthly audit meeting of this Board be
held on-Tuesday, February 3, 1948, at 1:30 P.M:

WHEREAS, .Section 27 S.D. 1 of the Town Law allows the Town Board from

time to time to fix_ salaries. of certain town officials and employees
and
Whereas, the cost of living has bncreased to such an extent that ,the
salaries now paid seem inadequate, and
Whereas the following employees have carried out the. duties. of the +
respective positions to the complete satisfaction of the Town Board, Yw
now therefore be it
Resolved That the salaries of the following town employees be and
hereby'are increased to the amounts herein indicated:
Senior. Stemographer Ella L. Phillips $1800.00 per year .
Senior.,Typist Therese A. Lindsay 936.00 per year. —
Junior- Stenographer Eloise Bowden 1800.00 per year
Police Chief Otto Anrig 7. 50 per diem
Police Patrolman mes. P. Kelly 7.00 per diem
" Al George G. Wetmore 7.00 per diem

Resolved, that these salaries be paid these town' employees. for `
their respective position in regular monthly payymments and that these
increases become effective as of February 11 1948.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
Whereas, Section 86 of the Social. Welfare Law permits the Super-
visor • to pay over to the Town Welfare Officer money to be used as Y
a revolving fund from which the Welfare Officer - shall pay all
welfare claims for which the Town is legally responsible, excepting
salaries and other compensation, and
Whereas; In the opinion of the Welfare Officer the sum of Two' Thousand L_
Dollars now set aside for. such revolving fund seem insufficient.,
and
Whereas, In the opinion of the Welfare Officer such revolving .fund
should be ,increased to the- sum of.. Three Thousand Dollars', now
therefore be it
Resolved, That the revolving fund of the Town Welfare Officer be ,.
and herebyl•is increased from the sum of •Two Thousand to the sum of
hree•,Thousand Dollars. `r.

authorized to purchase under Sec. 142 of the Highway Law from the .
Long•-Island Produce and' Fertilizer Co. with approval of the County
Superindendent of Highways: One KB-8 W.B. International Truck, '
10.00 x 20 Ply Tires, Increased Capacity brakes, HFA Cab. Delux
Oil Filter Heater and Defroster, complete with three yd. dump E ~
body�lfor a total price of $59171.13 F.O.B. Peconic.
The terms of payment are as follows: Check for $5,171.13.

payment areas follows: Trade-in allowance on one 1929 Chevrolet
School Bus, �.00.00, Check for $700.00.

Southold Park District Meeting
? . Annual meeting of the Southold Park District was held at the Town
Clerk' s Office, on Tuesday, February 17, 1948, at' 8 o'clock P.M.
The Torn Clerk called the meeting to order and read the call of
the meeting, presenting affidavits to certify that the meeting
had been advertised as required by law.
Commissioner S.B.. Fischer was duly elected Chairman of the meeting.
Chairman Fischer appointed the following: R.P. Booth, Clerk; John,
Kaelin and Owen Averett ,�ellers.
The Chairman then awaited nominations for a Commissioner for a term
of -three years in the place of- Rensselaer G. Terry, Sr. whose term
of office expired. Mr. Terry .was nominated to succeed himself,
the nomination- was duly seconded as there were no other nominations,
the Clerk was instructed. to cast one vote for Mr. Terry. The Chair-
man declared Mr.- Terry elected.
Thp Chairman announced that the Commissioners were asking for an
appropriation of $2,500. for maintenance of Park District properties.
When the -ballot- was formally declared closed the tellers reported
nine vote's coast all affirmative. The Chairman declared the budget
��.. duly passed.
