HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-10/04/1949 219 Meeting of October 4, 1949. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman' E. ' r.k. Klipp at Greenport, .on Tuesday, October74, 1949. The meeting was called to order- at 1::30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry; Tuthill; Albertson and Clark; Town y � Supt. of Highways Price, Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. Mr. Edwin H. King, Mr. Nelson Chapman, Mr. Edward Young, Miss Constance Terry and Mrs. Edgar Brown, Directors of the Oyster Ponds Historical Society of Orient, appeared before the Board requesting the Board to appropriate a sum of money for the maintainance of the Historical Society building. After discussion, the Board decided to place the sum of $500. in the budget for such a purpose. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as -,, read. The -Town Clerk presented to the Board estimates on the preliminary budget of all Town officials and Specill Districts that were filed in his office. �T Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board and the preliminary budget meeting be held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport, on Friday, October 7, 1949, at 1:30 P.M. Unanimously adopted. . -ry- �, Moved- by Justice Albertson; mconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That the street lighting contract between the Town of -� Southold and the Long Island Lighting Co. for Mattituck Lighting District #1 be and hereby is approved by the Town Board, said contract is for one year and expires on Sept. 25, 1950. Unanimously adopted.. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the contract between Robert G. Williams , Public _ . Accountant and the Fishers Island Ferry Dist. be and hereby is approved by the Town Board. Unanimously adopted. r Resolution offered by Superintendent of Highways Harold Price and seconded by Justice of the Peace Ralph W. Tuthill: WHEREAS; Almighty God had, in His )t/finite wisdom, seen fit to y ' remove from our midst , WILLI.AM F. KANE, a valued employee of the Southold Town Highway Department for over twenty-five years , whom we all ad- mired and greatly respected for his sterling qualities., and `a WHEREAS, our Community has lost a stalwart citizen, and the ' . Highway Department has lost a man who gave unstintedly of his time and effort, " NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we the members of the Southold Town Board express our deep felt loss on the death of WILLIAM F. KANE; that we express our heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family; that we stand a moment in silent tribute to his memory as a token of our esteem, and BE IT FURTHER RESMED that a copy of this Resolutionlm spread in full upon the minutes of the Town Board, and that the Town Clerk cause a copy thereof transmitted to his family. ` Unanimously adopted.
