Meeting of August 9, 1949
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor
Norman E. Klipp at Greenport , on Tuesday, August 9, 1949.
The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the fol-
lowing present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albert- J "
son and Clark; Town Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly
approved as read.

A public hearing was held at the office of Supervisor
at Greenport , on Tuesday, August 9, 1949 , to consider a proposed
amendment to Southold Town ordinance regulating the taking and
mariner of taking escallops from Town 71,laters. The Town Clerk
presented proof of publication of such hearing.
Supervisor Klipp opened the hearingat 2 o 'clock P.M. and read
the call of the meeting. He then called upon any person present
wishing to speak either for or against the proposed amendment.
There being no response the hearing was duly closed at 2:15 P.M.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: On roll
call the following amendment to Southold Town ordinance was un-
animously adopted by the Town Board. :
AMENDMENT TO SOUTHOLD TOWN ORDINANCE REGULATING }
THE TAKING AND MANNER OF TAKING ESCALLOPS

Section 1: Section 2 of Southold Town Ordinance regulating
the taking and manner of taking escallops from Town 7:'aters
dated January 20, 1944, and effective February 8, 19449 is
hereby amended to read as follows:
It shall be unlawful to take escallops from Town Waters of
Southold Town from April first to September fifteenth in
each. year, both dates inclusive.
Section 2: Except as herein modified, the aforesaid ordinance
shall remain in full force and effect.
This ordinance shall take effect on August 23, 1949.
The Board sat as a Committee on audit to examine claims against
the Town coribludi.ng the audit work at 2:45 P.M.

Resolved: That General Bills in the amount of $39465.92;
non-reimbursable welfare bills in the amount of $213.98; Lighting 1
District Bills in the amount of $1,295.70 and Fishers Island Ferry
District Bills account No . 2 in the amount of $9,762. 56, be
and the same are hereby ordered paid.

Resolved: That the Town Board make its official visit
to Fishers Island on Tuesday August 23, 19�9..
Unanimously adopted. _
The Bond of William H. Granger was presented to the Board for
approval.
Moved' by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That the Town Board does hereby approve the Bond
of William H. Granger •in the amount of $500. written by the
American Motorists Insurance Company, as to its form, manner '
of execution and sufficiency- of surety.
Unanimously adopted.

Resoludd: That the Town Police report for the month of
July be - accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.
Unanimously adopted.'
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice -Terry:
Resolved: That the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized to
have a sign placed at the Town Beach to read as follows: The
use of this beach by large groups, chdrter parties, and organizations
allow only upon prior reservation. Application should be made
to the Town Clerk
Unanimously adopted.
