Meeting of April 51) 1949
_ The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E.
Klipp at Greenport ,; on Tuesday, April 5, 1949. The meeting was called
to order at 1:30 P.M. with the, following present : Supervisor Klipp;
Justices Terry; Tuthill; Albertson and Clark; Tiuwn Tiupt. of
highways Price ; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on audit ,to exatmma claims
against the Town, concluding the audit work at 2:15 P.M.
T The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as
read.
A delegation from the public libraries throughout the Town appeared
J before the Board requesting an increase in the appropriation from
$7s500 to $10,000. for the support of public libraries.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson-
'Resolved: That the Town hoard approves an appropriation of the sum
of $10,000. far the support of the Public Libraries of Southold
Town. for the years 1950-1951, and that the following proposition be
-t _ submitted to the electors at the next annual election.:
Shall the sum of $10, 000. be appropriated for the support of the
' ' public libraries 'of Southold Town for the years 1950-1951.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved : That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be
held at the office of the Supervisor on Tuesday,; April 19, 1949,
' at • 1:30 F.M.

Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson:
-y ' Resolved: That the Town offices be closed on Good Friday. The
matter.. of closing was left to the discretfon, of the heazof each
department.
Unanimously adopted.
A letter was read from the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce re-
questing that the triangle at the intersection of Bay Ave. and
Mattituck Boulevard be removed.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry;
Resolved: That as per request of the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce ,
the triangle at the intersection of Bay Ave. and Mattituck Boule-
vard be removed.
UnaAl mously adopted.
The 'Bond *..of Supervisor Klipp was presented to the Board for
-� approval. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That Bond No. 1S 115 807 of the Aetna Casualty and
Surety Company in behalf of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp in the
amount of $5,000. be and hereby is approved as to form and suf-
f is ieney of surety therein.
Four votes in the affirmatives Supervisor Klipp not voting.

Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson:
" " Resolved: That the Chief of Police be authorized to purchase fire
extinguishers , axes and shovels for the police care, to be used in
case of emergency. Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by. Justice Albertson:
Resolved: That the Police Report for the month of March be
accepted by the Board and placed on file.

Resolved: That General- Bill-s- in the amount of. 3,594.73 ; Lighting -
District Bills in the amount of $1 ,144.77; Non-reimbursable Welfare +'
Bills in the- amount of $18t67 and Fishers Island Ferry District L
Bills Account #2 in the amount of $10,563.25 be and the same are
hereby ordered paid.

Moved by Justice Terry, seconded by J"usti.c.e Tuthill:
Resolved: That the contract between the Fishers Island Ferry _
District and the Rhode Island Navigation. Company for the chartering
of the vessel M.V. Yanke be approved subject to terms and con-
ditions of United States of A -merica Gontract (W--30-315. TCAA-1)
and the provisions of Chapter 699 of the Laws .of New York 1949,
as amended.
Unanimously adopted.
