HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-03/08/1949 Meeting of March 8, 1949 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, March 8, 1949. The meeting <was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justice Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; Town Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims against the Town, concluding the audit work at 2:30 P.M. . The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read. - � Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held at the office of the Supervisor on Tuesday, March 22, 1949, at 1:30 P.M. - Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That General Bills in the amount of $7,160.28; Lighting YF District bills in the amount of $1,275.28; Non-reimbursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $34.75; Town Trustee Bills in the amount of $5.00; Fishers Island Ferry District Bills No. 1, in the amount of $6.00 and Fishers Island Ferry District No. 2 Bills in the amount of $9, 581. 56 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That the Police report for the month of February be ac- cepted by the Board and placed on file. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be authorized to transfer -� Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) from Fishers Island Ferry District Account #1 to Fishers Island Ferry District Account #2. Account #1 to be reimbursed in like amount by subsequent receipts from Account .> #2s Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Whereas, the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District have entered into a contract for bid for carrying of U.S.. Mail from New London, Conn. to Fishers Island, N.Y. and Whereas , The said Commissioners have requested approval of this act by the Town Board. ~ � Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved: That the acts of the Commissioners of Fishers' Isla.nd Ferry District in entering into a contract for bid for carrying of U9S.Mail be approved, and that the Supervisor and the Justice of the Peace of Fishers Island be and they hereby are authorized to issue the proper certificate indicating such approval. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Terryl seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That the Town clerk be and hereby is directed to order five copies of Morrisson' s Guide for the Justices of the Peace. Unanimously adopted. P.M. . .to consider"i the following proposed .,ordinance:.�_;, SOUTHOLD TOWN PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE TAKING AND MANNER OF TAKING CLAMS FROM TOWN WATERS. t y - SECTION 1: DEFINITIONS AS SUED IN THIS ORDINANCE. (1) Resident: - Whenever the word "Resident" is used in this ordin- ance it shall mean a member of a household actually occupying or maintaining a dwelling in Southold Town for not less than two months of the calendar year in which a violation of this ordinance was committed® � � - (2) Southold Town Waters: Whenever the words "town waters" are used in. this ordinance they shall be deemed to mean all waters and land under waters in any harbor, bay or creek, title to which is vested in the Board of Trustees of the Town of Southold and shall include all the waterways and creeks cutting the shore line of the Town of Southold on Long Island. SECTION 2: No person not a resident of Southold Town may take clams in any manner at any time from Town waters. SECTION 3: No person may take illegal size clams at any time. SECTION 4: Any violation of this ordinance shall constitute a misdemeanor and shall be punishable by a fine of not less than •F = $5.00 nor more than $50.00, or imprisonment for not less than ten days nor more than 180 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
