HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-09/05/1950 28 - Meeting of September 5, 1950 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1950. The meeting was called to orddr at 1:30 P.M. with the following ? present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; Town duperintendent of Heghwayy Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on audittto examine claims against the Town, concluding the audit work at 2:00 P.M. -� The Minuted of the two previous meetings were read and were duly _ approved as read. -� A communication was read from Eloise Bowden requesting a further �1 leave of absence from her duties in the Assessors Office. - - Moved by Justice Clark, seconded by Albertson: Resolved: That Eloise Bowden be granted a further leave of absence without compensation from her duties in the Southold Town �► Assessors ' Office, from September 15, 1950, to October 14, 1950, both dates inclusive. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Clark, seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That the regular monthly meeting of th&s Board be held at the Supervisors Office at Greenpert, on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 19509 at 1:30 P.M. - ' Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Clark, seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolved: That the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install two (2) 250 C.P. airial street lights in the traffic circle at the intersection of the Main Road and North Road, at Greenport. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Terry,, seconded by Justice Clark: - Resolved: That General Billa in the sum of $1342. 50; Lighting District Bills in the sum of $133.33; Non-reimbursable Welfare Bills in the sum of $19.26; Fishers Island Ferry District $'ills = r Account #T in the sum of $153.38; Fishers Island Ferry District 4 Bills Account #2 in the sum of $16,929.69; be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Albertson, seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved; That Henry F. Santacroee be and hereby is appointed }, temporary Police Patrolman (Constable) for the Town of Southold, from September 9, 1950, to October 20, 1950, both dates inclusive, providing he accepts such appointment in writing. Be It Further Resolved: That the compensation for suck appointment be fixed at $6. 50 per day. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Albertson, seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the Police Report for the month of August be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Clark, seconded by Justice Albertson: ` Resolved: That the Town Board does hereby approve the letter agreement between the Fishers Island Ferry District and E . S. Wilcox in the opperation of the vessel Col. John E. Baxter in the sum of $152640.03 , from August 1, to August 31, 1950, both dates inclusive . a . Unanimously adopted. AM 8 . Moved by Justice Clark, seconded by Justice Terry: R�p-solved: 19-HEREAS, the Tin Board of the Town of Southold has heretofore authorized and empowered the Supervisor of the Town of Southold to negotiate for the purchase of a boat for the FISHERS ISLAND FERRY DISTRICT, pursuant to the Provisions of Chapter 699 of the Laws of New York, 1947, as amended, aid WHEREAS, the Commissioners of the said FISHERS ISLAND FERRY DISTRICT have agreed upon and entered into a contract for the purchase of a certain passenger and auto ferry MYSTIC ISLE from the ERIE ISLES FERRY C014PANY at a cost of $94,000.00, and WHEREAS, it is the considered opinion of a majority of the members of the Town Board of the Town of Southold that the purchase of _ such ferry is in the best interests of the said FISHERS ISLAND �. PERRY DISTRICT , NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the acts of, the Commissioners of the FISHERS ISLAND FERRY C0MPANY entering into said contract with the ERIE ISLESDFERRY COMPANY be and they hereby are approved, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the cost of said ferry be paid from the proceeds of town obligations to be issued and sold in the manner provided by the Local Finance Law, and that the Town Board of the Town of Southold shall borrow the sum $100$000.00 and issue . � Town oblAgations therefor, said amount to be assessed upon the property liable to taxation .in . the said FISHERS ISLAND FERRY DISTRICT, and levied and collected in the same manner as Town �. charges therein as provided by Law.
