Meeting. of August 22, 1950
The annual Fishers Island Meeting of the Southold Town Board 'gas held
on Tu sday, Aug. 22, 1950.. The Board left Preston's Dock at 9:00 A.M.
>-y aboard Capt. Harry Torton's boat, "The Striper" , accompanied by a party of Siva
State, County, and Town Officials and guests , arriving at Fishers Island
at 11:00 A.M.
The meeting was held in the auditorium of the Fishers Island School, and
was called to order by Supervisor Klipp at 1:30 P.M. , with the following
L= members of the Board present: Supervisor Klipp, Justices Shanklim,
Tuthill, Albertson and Clark, Town Superintendent of Highways Price,
Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth; also a delegation of- Fishers
Island residents.

Resolved: That reading dsf the Minuted of the previous meeting be
R dispensed with.
Unanimously adopted.
Many matters pertaining to the operation of the Fishers Island Ferry
'} District by the Commissioners were discussed. Supervisor Klipp explained
in ddtail the proposition of purchasing the MYSTIC ISLE, including the
specifications of the vessel' s carrying capacity as far as cars and
passengers were concerned, and informed those present that it would
probably be necessary to bond the District in the amount of $ 100,000.00.
A profile plan of the MYSTIC ISLE was passed around so that everyone present
- would have a clear conception of the type of vessel to be purchased.
After these various details pertaining to the purchase of the vessel were
discussed, Supervisor Klipp asked those present if there were any objections
to the purchasing of the vessel and the bond issue as outlined, and
indicated that any objections should be raised at this time rather than
after the District had been bonded and the vessel purchased. There were
no objections registered by any of those present.
There was also considerable discussion on labor on the highways ,
especially Peninsula Road, adjustment of Cresent Avenue and a public
duiAping ground, Supervisor Klipp requested Justice Shanklin to
investigate these matters.

Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board be held
at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport , on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1950,
_ at 1:30 P.M.

Moved by Justice Shanklin, seconded by Justice Clark:
Where�s , � the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District have
entered into a Contract with the United States Army W30-315 (A.A.11;'J)
on May 25, 1948, for the transportation of passengers and cargo betwaen
New London, Connecticut and Fishers Island, New York, and Supplemental
t' Agreement No.I , on October ,l, 1949, amending said contract, and
Supplemental agreement No. 2 amending said contract on July 31 1950
said supplemental agreement No. 2 is in the best interest of the
Fishers Island Ferry District,
:.� Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved: That in view of the exigencies of the
situation, the acts of said Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry
District in entering into said Supplemental Agreement No. 2 be and they
hereby are approved.
Unanimously adopted.
The meeting was recessed at 4:15 P.M. and the Board left Fishers Island
at 5:OOP.M. . The meeting was reconvened on Board"The Striper".
Moved by Justice Clark, seconded by Justice Tuthill:
Resolved: That Burnett F. Tuthill be and hereby is appointed Special
Constable to direct traffic at the East Cutchogue school crossing, at
a salary of $74.00 per day for each school day worked, effective as of
Sept. 6, 1950, he to serve at the pleasure of the I§oard.
Unanimously adopted.

Moved by Justice Clark, seconded by Justice Tuthill:
Redolved: That the appointment of a constable for the Tom of Southold
be laid on the table until the next meenting of the -Town Board.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Terry, seconded by. Justice Clark:
Resolved: That Supervisor Klipp be and hereby is authorized to travel
by air, train or otherwise , as long as his insurance is in effect'
such travel as he in his discretion deems necessary and that he be
reimbursed his expense-ff.
Unanimously adopted.
Adjournment was at 5:30 P:M.
