Meeting of July._ R1 _" 1950 `
A special meeting of the Southold Town Board was held at the office of
Superyisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Monday, July 31, 1950.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 with the following present:
Supervisor Klipp, Justices Terry, Albertson, and Clark, Town Attorney
Teary and Town Clerk Booth.
The purpose of this meeting was to consider the purchase of a -boat for
he operation of the Fishers Island Ferry. .

WHEREAS, Chapter 699 of the Laws of New York, 1947, as amended
by Chapter 27 of the Laws of New York, 1948, as further amended by
Chapter 82 of the Laws of New York, 1950, authorized the Tovn Board
of the Town of Southold to acquire a boat or boats for the operation
of ,the FISHERS ISLAND FERRY, and
WHEREAS, .The Town Board of the Town of Southold is advised by
,the Commissioners of the FISHERS ISLAND FERRY DISTRICT that said District
is in urgent need of a passenger ferry boat for operation of said ferry
on and after October 1, 1950, and that said Commissioners believe that
an acceptable boat is or will become available, and
WHEREAS, it is the considered opinion of the members of the
Town Board of the Town of Southold that the purchase of a boat for said
District is in the Best interests of said district,NOW, THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Supervisor of the Town of - `
Southold be and he hereby is instructed and authorized and empowered to
negotiate for the purchase of a boat for said FISHERS ISLAND FERRY
DISTRICT, amd to make a deposit of a sum of money thereon in such amount
as he shall deem proper , a8id to be made in escrow and deposited with
as escrow agent within the State of New York, providing for the return
of said deposit in the event of disapproval of use of said boat for the
purposes intended and--failure to pass inspection by the Coast Guard
Marine Inspection, and/or in the event of inability of the Town Board
to obtain the balance of the purchase price upon a properly issued valid
bond issue as authorized by law. }:

Upon the foregoing vote , the Supervisor declared the Resoulution duly
Adopted.
