Meeting of July 119-19 50
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp
` 1 at Greenport, on Tuesday, July 11 , 1950. The meeting was called to
order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Norman E.
Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark, Town Superintendent
of Highways Price, Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee obi audit to examine claims against
the Town, concluding the audit work at 2:30 P.M.
The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read.—
Moved by Justice Clam, seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board be
held at the office of the Supervisor, on Tuesday, August 8, 19509
at 1:30 P.M.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by, Justice Albertson, seconded by Fustice Clark:
Resolved: That Dorothy M. Wells be and hereby is appointed temporary
Junior Clerk as of July 1, 19 50,and
Be it Further Resolved: That the compensation for such position be
fixed at $1300. per year, and
Be It Further Resolved: That the compensation for this position be
paid in regular monthly installments , and
Be It Further Resolved: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file
such certificate with the proper parties as are required by Section 30
Sub-division 3 of the Town Law.

Resolved: That Frank S. Dawson of Neer Suffolk be and .hereby is
appointed., subject to the written approval of the District Superintendent
of Schools, Attendance Officer of all schools throughout the Town,
except such schools as are otherwise provided for by Section 3213 of
the Education Law, and
Be It Further Resolved: That such attendance officer shall be removable
at the pleasure of the District Superintendent of Schools , and
Be It Further Resolved: That the compensation of such attendance
officer be fixed at $800. per year payable in regularlmonthly
installments , he to pay his own expense , and
Be It Further Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is instructed
to notify Frank S. Dawson and the District Superintendent of Schools

Be It Further Resolved: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file
such certificate with the proper parties as are required by Section30,

Moved by Justice Clark, seconded by Justice Albertson:
Resolved: That Clayton Harrell, Jr. be and hereby is appointed to a
position of temporary Life Guard to serve in such capacity at the
Southold Town Bathing Beach, and
Be .It Further Resolved: That the compensation for such position be
- " fixed at $25. per week payable in regular weekly installments , and
Be It Further Resolved: That this appointment take effect as of
July 9, 1950, and be tbrminated at the pleasure of the Southold Town
Board, and
Be It Further Resolved: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such
�— certificate with the proper parties as are required by Section 309
Sub-division 3 of the Town Law.

�1 . Resolved: That Joseph Sawiski be and hereby is appointed provisional
Police Patrolman (Constable) of the Town of Southold Police Department,
effective as of July 159 1950, and

Resolved: That the Southold Town Board does hereby request the State
Traffic Commission, pursuant to article 7 of the Vehicle and Traffic "Law, `y
to restrict or prohibit the parking of vehicles on the East side of
Mechanic Street from route 25 to its intersection with the easterly
leg of Mechanic Street.

Resolved: That inasmuch as the required dedications have been duly
received, map of same duly filed and the necessary papers signed,
the Town Board take over and maintain as a public highway, Center Street
at Mattituck, Town of Southold, N. Y.

Moved by Justice Tuthill, seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That General Bills in the sum of $3891. 53 , Lighting District
Bills in the sum of $1173.21, Non-reimbursable Welfare Bills in the sum
of $96.00, Fishers Island Ferry District Bills Account #2 in the sum
of $1 5,461.75 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.

Resolved: That Bond No. 8066 issued by the Glens Falls Indemnity
Compahy in the sum of $1000. on behalf of Theodore B. Howard be and
the sane is hereby approved as 'to form, sum, manner of execution and
sufficency of surety therein.

Moved by Justice Albertson, seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That the Police Report for the month of June be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on file.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Albertson, seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That the Town Board does hereby approve the letter agreement
between the Fishers Island Ferry District and E. G. Wilcox in the
operation of the vessel Co`f_ John E. Baxter in the sum of $137665.33 �.
from June 1, to June 30, 1950, both dates inclusive.

Notice having been published that sealdd proposals will be 'received at
the office of the Supervisor, at 2:00 otclock P.M. on August 8, 19509
for the furnishing and installation- of a new steam heater at the
Southold Town Highway Building at Peconicl
