Meeting of March 24, 1950
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman
E. Klipp at Greenport, on Friday, March 24, 1950. The meeting was
called to order 'at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor
Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark, Town Superintendent
of Highways Price,- Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
'The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved
as corrected,,
John Wickham appeared before the Board to complain about certain
.parties gathering oysters in .the creek bodering on his property at
Cutchogue. He inquired if it were possible to compel such parties to
be licensed. The Supervisor- advised, him to take -the matter up with
the Town Trustees.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; ' geconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That ,the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board be
held at the office of the Supervisor, at Greenport, on Tuesday,
April 11, 19501. at 1:30 P.M.

--� Resolved: That the Town Board does hereby accept a deed granting a
parcel of land ao Greenport, from Herbert R. Fordham and wife,
as.,foilows:.-
ALL that' piece, parcel or tract of land- situate, lying and being
on the curved westerly line of the town highway known as Beach Road,
lying easterly of Sterling Basin, in the Town of Southold, in the -.--.
County of Suffolk and State of New York, that is bournbd and des-..
cribed as follows: -
_7._ Beginnine at a point on the curved westerly line of Beach Road
whose radius is 436.0 feet,. 100.98 feet southerly along said curved
westerly line from the initial point o.f said curved line, said point
of beginning being the northwesterly-corner of the premises herein
described; running southerly alone- said curved westerly line of Beach
-� Road 222.79 feet to other land of the parties of the first part;
thence southwesterly along said other land of the parties .of the first
Part on a line parallel to and 200.0 feet distant from the northwesterly
line of the premises herein.'described, 310.0 feet to Sterling Basin;
thence northwesterly, and then northeasterly, and then easterly,and
y, . then again northeasterly, and then again northwesterly along said.
Sterling ,Basin about 425 feet to land of Paul S. Wilson; thence northeast-
erly along said land of Paul S. Wilson 150 feet, more or less, to the
point of beginning.
TOGETHER with the,"right, title and interest of the parties of
the first part of, in-;and to, the waters and lands under the waters of
Sterling Basin adjacent to .,the upland hereinbefore described.

AND- ALSO insofar , as the parties of the first part have the right
to make such grant,' the said"parties of the first part -hereby grant and
,.� . convey to the party of the second part the right to use, to dredge, and -
to keep .free from obstructions a strip of land under the waters' of
-� Sterling Basin, said strip of land being 100 feet in width and- adjacent
to, and southerly of, ,the northerly line of a certain grant made by
Letters Patent issued by the State of New York to Herbert Fordham,
one of the parties of the first part, on May 18, 1934, and recorded
- in the Department of State, Albany, New York" in- the Book of Patents
number 68, page 45. Said strip of land extends from the land .herein-
� i before conveyed to the party of the second part westerly to :;_the ,.Harbor
Line of said Sterling Basin as established by the .Government of the
United States. Through the waters over said strip of land fine..;passage for
all ever--shall -be maintained.
The aforesaid grants and conveyances are made with the under-
standing that theyare to enable the party of the' second part to create,
to continue, and to control a landing place for small boats; and
later, as occasion may require or invite, to create., to continue and
-'' to,.:60ntrol slips, wharves, space and .equipment for the shipment and
reception of goods, wares, and merchandise, all for' the use of the

people; but in- any event only on such terms and under such rules as
the _party .of the second part and its . officials may determine. And
the party of the second part hereby agrees that at no time is the
property_ hereinbefore corer. eyed, or any part Itthereaf,._,to be used as .
a dump or for the placing of heaps of shells or for the beaching �fy
or otherwise abandoning of boats, wows, or aught else; and , the- .
party of . the, second part, hereby agrees to remove at once any and
all vessels or -other structures improperly on any portion of said
propertyi and to remove at once any and every article of rubbish
deposited on any portion df said property, and also agrees to prevent
thereon and to eliminate therefrom every sort.of nuisance whatsoever.

Resolved: That inasmuch as the required dedications have been re-
ceived, map of same duly filed, .and the necessary papers signed, ._.
the Town Board take over and maintain as, ,a .public high-way known
as Leeton Drive, at Southold.

Resolved: That the Town Board does hereby request the State Traffic
Commission, pursua4t to Article 7 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law,
:.,,.. to place signs on Love Lane, Mattituck, reading:fine hour parking
from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. "
