HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-03/07/1950 Meeting of March 7, 1950. The Southold Town Board met at the office of S'upe.rvisor. Norman E. &lipp, at Greenport, on Tuesday, March 7, 1950.. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Super- �, visor Klipp; Justices Terry; Tuthill; Albertson and Clark; Town Supt. of Highways. Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk-Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims against the Town concluding the audit work at 2 o' clock P.M. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly ..approved as read. . > Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held at' the office of the Supervisor at Greenport on Friday, March 24,1950., Unanimously adopted. At 2:15 P.M. in accordance with a notice published according to law, bids were opened for proposals to -furnish the Town of Southold Ok two 2 Door Sedan standard model automobiles for use as police cars. The bids were as follows: Riverhead, Hudson $938. each,.; Greenport Auto Sales $900. each; Vail Bros. , Inc. $1,014.92 each. ' Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry: } � Therefore Be It Resolved: That the bid of the Greenport Auto Sales being the lowest responsable bidder be and the same is hereby act opted. Unanimously adopted. A communication was read from the secretary of the Cutchogue Fire . . Department , requesting permission to hold a townament of the North Fork Volunteer Fireman' s Association in Cutchogue on July 1, 1950, and to erect a temporary arch over Pequash Ave. and place a tem- porary fire hydrant on the westerly side of said road. Be It Resolved: That the request be granted the Cutchogue Fire . Department to hold a tournament of the North Fork Volunteer Fireman' s Association in Cutchogue, Town of Southold, on July 1, 1950, and that permission be granted them to erect a temporary -� arch over Pequash Ave. and place a temporary fire hydrant on the westerly side of said road, providing the Town of Southold be ' indemnified and 96 saved harmless from any and all claims aris- ing out of or by reason of the same and that. the Town be furnished with an insurance policy of indemnification. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That the Supervisor be and hereby is instructed to advise r the County Superintendent of Highways to install a permanent traffic circle at the intersection of Main Road and North Road at Greenport. Unanimously adopted. � The bond of Supervisor Klipp was presented to the Board for approval. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:. y Resolved: That pursuant to the provisions of Section 283 of the Highway Law, Bond No. 15116 313 of the Aetna Casualty and Surety - Company on behalf of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp in the- sum of $5,000. be and the same is hereby approved as -to form and suf- ficiency of surety therein. Four votes in the affirmative, Supervisor Klipp not voting. The bonds of Otto L. Anrig, James P. Kelly and Henry Y. King were presented to the Board for approval. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by JusticeTerry:: Resolved: That Bond No. SM-1759578 of the American Motorists Insurance Company on behalf of Otto L. Anrig in the sum of $500. 260 Bond No. SM-175, 580 of the American Motorists Insurance Company on behalf of James P. Kelly in the sum of $500. Bond No. SM-175, 579, of . the American Motorists Insurance Company on behalf of Henry Y. King in the sum of $500. be and the same are hereby approved as to form and sufficiency of surety therein. Unanimously adopted. y� Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson; Resolved: That the agreement for the expenditure of Highway moneys, Section 284, Highway Law, made by and between Harold Price, Town Superintendent of Highways and the Town Board be and the same is hereby approved by the Town Board -ald the County Supt . of Highways. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry: ° Resolved: That General Bills in the surR of $3,678. 26; Lighting District Bills in the sum of $1,171.95; Non-reimbursable Welfare Bills in the sum of $17.06 and Fishers Island Ferry District Bills , _ Account No: 2, in the sum of $4,283.69, be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the Town Board doesrhereby approve the letter of Agreement between the Fishers Island Ferry District and E.S.
