MEETING OF OCTOBER 9,1951
The Southold Town, Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman
E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tues. , Oct. 9, 1951. The meeting was
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor
Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill and Albertson; Town Superintendent
of ##ighways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims
against the Town concluding the audit work at 2 P.M.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and were duly -approv-
ed as read.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by qustice Tuthill:
Whereas , It is apparent that an insufficient amount of money was,
appropriated for the proper care' and maintenance of the town
dump in the budget of 1950-51, and
Whereas , Section 107 of the Town Law provides for the transfer
of surplus money to meet such conditions , _
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved: That Supervisor or_man E. Klipp ;
be and he hereby is authorized to transfer the s-Um of Three
Thousand Dollars ($3 ,000) from the Surplus Account to the •Gene'ral ;
Fund of the Town, to provide for the proper care and maintenance
of said dump.

Whereas , It appears by an eligible list of the Suffolk Ca.unty
Civil Service Commission dated October 3 , 1951, 'that Marion A.
Winters is. eligible for the appointment of Junior Clerk, to act
in such capacity at the Town Clerk' s, Office at Southold, now,
Therefore, be it
Resolved: That 4arion A. Winters be and hereby is appointed to
the position of 'Junior Clerk, to serve in such capacity at the
Town Clerk's Office at Southold, for a probationary period of
three months , and be it further
Resolved: That Marion A. Winters be compensated 'for such services
in an amount of Sixteen Hundred Dollars ($1600. ) per year , payable
in regular monthly payments , and be it further
Resolved: That the effective date of such appointment shall be
October 1, 1951.

District Bills in the sum of $1273.75, Fishers Island Ferry
District Bills .Account No. 1 in the sum of $215.80, Fishers Island
Ferry District Bills, Account No. 2 in the sum of $7068.62; be and
the same is hereby ordered paid.

A communication was read from the Trustees of the Southold
Presbyterian Church requesting a street light be placed in front
of the church.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to request
tie Long Island Lighting Company to remove one 100 c.p. aerial street
light and fixtures from pole #360 on the north side of the Main ` T
Road in Southold, and install one 600 c.p. aerial light on an eight
foot arm on pole #747 on the south side of the Main Road in front of
the Presbyterian Church, in the S

- Resolved: That the annual Highway Estimate and Budget of the Town
Superintendent of Highways for the fiscal year beginning Januaryl,
i952, be and the same is hereby approved by the Town Board.
Unanimously adopted.
Sealed proposals will be received by the Towm Board at the
ti Supervisors Office on October 30, 1951, at 2 o ' clock P.M. for the
painting of the outside of the Town building located on the northerly
-- side of the Main Road, in Southold.

Resolved: 'That this Town Board does hereby prdpare and approve as

on the lst. day of January, 1952, the itimized statement of estimated

FURTHER RE,�SOLVED:That such preliminary budget shall be filed in the
office of .the Town Clerk where it shall be available for inspection
by any int,eres'ted person at all reasonable hours, and be it
-. FURTHER RESOLVED: That this Board shall meet at 2 o 'clock P.M. on
'the 8th _day of 1ovember, 19"1 for the purpose of holding a public

FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk give notice of such public
hearing in the manner provided in Section 113 of the Town Law, and
- that such notice be published in substantially the following form:
' NOTICE OF HEARING UPON PRELIMINARY BUDGET
Notice is hereby given that the preliminary budget of the Town
of Southold for the fiscal year beginning January lst, 1 2, has
been completed and filed in the office of the Town Clerk at
Southold, New York , where it is available for inspection by any
interested person at all reasonable hours.
Further notice is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town
of Southold will meet and review said preliminary budget and hold
a public hearing thereon, at The Office of the Supervisor, Green port,
New York at 2 O 'clock P.M. on the th day of November , 1951, and
that at such hearing any person may be heard in favor of or against
the preliminary budget as compiled or for or against anjCitem or items
therein contained.
� - Pursuant to' Section 113 of the Town Law, the proposed salaries
