Meeting of August 28, 1951
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tues. , Aug. 28� 1951. The meeting was called to order
at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp;. JusticesTuthilli d1
Terry, Albertson and Clark;. Town Superintendent of Highways Price; Town
Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The minutes of the previous meeting weee read and duly approved as read.
Mrs. Caroline Korn appeared before the Town Board reque�,sting the Board
to view her property- with the idea of making some, resti�;fon caused by
the erosion which has taken place on her property since the new road
and Jockey Creek Bridge was built.
The Board stated they would view the property after Otto W. Van Tuyl,C. E.
had Dlaced markers on the boundary line.
Moved by Justice Albertson; Seconded by Justice Clark: - �
Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meetingTof thi§ Board be held
at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport on hies. , Sept. ll,. 1951,
at 1:30 P.M.
Unanimously adopted. �.
A letter was read from Joseph Sawiski tending hQs resignation as Town
Constable.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
Resolved: That the resignation of Joseph Sawiski Constable of the Town
of Southold Police Department, be accepted by the Town Board and placed .'
on file. i
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Albertson:
Resolved: That Charles Jacob$, Jackson avenue, New Suffolk, New York', be �-
and hereby is appointed Police Patrolman (Constable) of the Town of
Southold for a Probationary period of six months, following the date
that the appointment becomes effective, and be it further
Resolved: That Charles Jacob, will serve in the capacity of Police
Patrolman (Constable) ' of the Town of ''outhold at the pleasure of the
Town Board, and be it further
Resolved: That the compensation during the probationary period be fixed , k,k
at Seven Dollars ($7.00) per day, Payable in regular biweekly payments,
and be it further t�
Resolved: That this probationary period take effect on September 8, 1951.

Moved by Justice Albertson; Seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That Edward S. Szortka, Main Road,Route 25, Peconic, New York,
be. and hereby is appointed Police Patrolman (Constable) of the Town of
Southold for a probationary period of six months following the date that ` .

Resolved: That Edward S. Szortka will serve in the capacity of Police 'X
Patrolman (Constable) of the Town of Southold at the pleasure of the
Town Board, and be it further
Resolved: That the compensation during the probationary period be fixed

and be it further

The Board viewed a proposed highway at Mattituck, property of Robert ' r
H. Preston, A. Kenneth Monsell and Robert and Helen Muir. _
Moved by Justice Albertson: seconded by Justice Tuthill:
Resolved: That the Town Board will accept the proposed highway when a
strip 30 feet in width is plowed and harrowed and put in a suitable
condition. ..
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Supt. of Highways Brice; seconded by Justice' Clark:
Whereas trucks from within and without the Town of Southold have been
removing sand and gravel for commercial use from the Cutchogue sand-pit
and whereas, this sand-pit is becoming depleted to such an extent that it
will be necessary in ,the near future to } r-

sand and gravel for the repair and maintenancesofmTown Hiproghwaystwithin ithe j
Town.

Therefore Be It Resolved:That all persons are hereby strictly forbidden
r, removing sand and gravel from this sand-pit except for use on Public High-
ways.
