The Southold Town Board met at the Municipal Building at Green-
port on Friday, July 27, 1951, for the purpose of holding a _T
public hearing on •a petition for the establishment of a light
district bounded as follows: on the North by Front 'Street; on
the East by Village Line; on the South by Corwin Street; on the
West by Nineth Street.
Notice of said hearing was duly posted and published as required
by law. -=
Supervisor Klipp opened the hearing at 7:30. P.M. with the fol-
lowing present: Supervisor Klipp; Justice Terry; Tuthill;.
Albertson and Clark; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. Y1.,
The Supervisor read the call of the hearing, and called upon :--
any person present that would like to speak either for or .
against the matter in question. Present were: Albert Martocchia;
Albert Olsen, -John Mazzaferro. All were in favor of the estab-
lishment of -a light district.

Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson:
WHEREAS, a petition for the creation of a Lighting District to
be known as the West Greenport Lighting- District in the Town of
Southold Count of Suffolk New York the said

dated June 1, 1951, was duly presented to this Town Board, and �•-
WHEREAS, an order was duly adopted by the Town Board on July
10, 1951, reciting the filing of said petition, the improvements
proposed, the boundaries of the proposed district, and the esti-
mated expense thereof and specifying Jul 2 1 1 at p Y 7, 95 � 7:30' o 'clock
P.M. as the time and Numicipal Building in the Village of Green-
port in said Town of Southold as the place where the said Hoard
would meet to consider the petition and to hear all persons:
interested in the subject thereof, concerning the same, and
WHEREAS, such order was duly posted, published and served' as-
required by law, and
WHEREAS a hearing in the matter was duly held by the Board 'on
this 271h day of July, 19519 commencing at 7:30 o 'clock P.M. ,
at the Municipal Building in the Village of Greenport in said
Town of Southold, and considerable discussion upon the matter
having been had, and- all persons desiring to be heard, having
been duly heard, including among others, Edward T. Costello, Esq. ,
an attorneyrepresenting the
p g petitioners, and various other
Persons speaking in favor of the establishment of the proposed
district, and also N:ONE' in opposition thereto; Now, upon the
evidence given upon such hearing,. and upon motion of Justice Clark
and seconded by Justice Albertson, it is
RESOLVED AND DETERMINED that (a) the petition aforesaid is
signed and acknowledged or proved as required by law, it n,..
. duly complies with the requirements of Section 191 of the
Town Law as to sufficiency of signers with respect to the bound-
aries of the proposed district as herein approved and it is
otherwise sufficient; (b) all the property and the property
owners within the proposed district are benefited thereby; r }-
(c) all the property and property owners benefited are in-
cluded within the limits of the proposed district; and (d)
it is in the public interest to grant in whole the relief
sought; and it is further y

RESOLVED AND DETERMINED that the establishment of .a Lighting
District as proposed in said petition be approved;, [ .that
the service therein mentioned be provided for upon the re-
quired funds being made available, or provided for; and that
such district shall be designated and known as the West
Greenport Lighting District of the Town of Southold and shall-
be bounded and described as follows:-
Beginning at a point on the northerly line of Front-'Street at
the southwesterly corner of land of Arthur A:Devine
along the northerly line of Front Street one hundred distant,
feet from Sixth Avenue, and running (100 )
thence in a no rtherly

direction along the westerly line of said land of Arthur A.
Levine a distance of one hundred and fifty (1501 ) feet, more
or less, to a point; running ,thence in a westerly direction
along the northerly line. of The knights of Columbus a distance
of one hundred and seventy-five (1751 ) feet, more or less, to
a point; running thence in a southerly direction along said
land of ,The Knights of Columbus a distance of fifty ( 50) feet,
more or les-s, to a point, running thence in a westerly direction
along eaid land of The Knights of Columbus and the Northerly
line of land of Harry Brown a distance of ( 501 ) feet, more or
less, to a point; running thence in a southerly direction along
the westerly line of said land of Harry Brown, a distance of
one hundred and fifty (1501) feet, more or less, to the northerly
l side of Front Street; running thence in a westerly direction a-
long the northerly line of �'ront Street a distance of four hun-
dred (4001 ) feet, more or less , to the southwesterly corner of
land of School bistrict #10'; running thence in a northerly
direction along the westerly line of said land of School District
> #10 a distance of two hundred (2001 ) feet, more or less, to a
point; running thence in a westerly direction along the land of
Elizabeth Herzog Estate a distance of three hundred (3001 ) feet,
.� more or less, to a point; running thence in a southerly direction.
along the westerly line of said land of Elizabeth Herzog Estate
a distance of two hundred (2001� feet, more or less, to the
,.. northerly line of Front Street; running thence in a southeasterly
direction diagonally across Front Street to the Southwesterly
corner of the intersection of Front Street and Ninth Street;
running thence southerly along the westerly line of Ninth Street
a distance of fifteen hundred and fifty (1550' ) feet, more or
a' less, to a point; running thence easterly across Ninth Street,
and along the southerly line of land known as the Greenport
Driving Park, a distance of nine hundred (9001 ) feet, more or
less, to the westerly boundary line of the Village of Greenport;\,
-, running thence in a northerly direction along the said westerly
boundary line of the Village of Greenport to the Northerly line
of Front Street, a distance of sixteen hundred and seventy-five
(1675') feet, more or less; running thence in an easterly direction
along the northerly line of Front Street, a distance of seventy-
five (75' ) feet, more or less , to the point or place of beginning.
