HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-07/10/1951 358 - M6etiiig `off The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, Suly 10, 1951. ' The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices, Terry; Tuthill and Clark; Town Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims against the -Town, concluding the audit work at 2 P.M. = The minutes of the previous meeting were read and were duly approved as read. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That Joel Rosen be and hereby is appointed to position of Temporary Life Guard, to serve in such capacity at the Southold Town Bathing Beach, and be it further v- Resolved: That compensation be fixed at Twenty-five ($25.00) Dollars per week, payable in regular weekly installments , and' be it. further Resolved: That this appointment take effect as of July 1, 1951.,. and to be terminated at the ,pleasure of the Southold Town Board. Unanimously adopted. - Moved by Justice Clark- seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That Frank A,. Dawson of New Suffolk be and hereby is appointed, subject to the written approval of the District Superin- tendent of Schools, Attendance Supervisor of all schools throughout the town except such schools as are otherwise provided for by Section F. 3213 of the Education Law, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That such Attendance Supervisor shall be -- removable at the pleasure of the District Superintendent of Schools,- and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the compensation of such an Attendance Supervisor be fixed at $800.00 per year, payable in regular monthly r installments, he to pay his own expenses, and AY BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is in structed to notify Frank S. Dawson and the District Superintendent - ' of Schools of this appointment, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certificate with the proper parties as are required by Sectiom 30, Sub-division 3 of the Town Law. •�1 Unanimously adopted. y J` Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That Arthur J. Donnelly be and hereby is appointed as Laborer at the Southold Town Dump subject to the approval of . . the Suffolk County Civil Service 6ommission, -and be it further Resolved: That Arthur J. Donnelly be compensated for such services in the amount of One Hundred Ninety-five ( 195.00) Dollars per month, and be it further Resolved:- That payment for such services be made in regular "monthly r _ payments, and be it further Resolved: That this appointment take effect July 16, 1951. Klipp be authorized to transfer Three Thousand Five Eundred Dollars ($39500.00) from Fishers Island Ferry District Account No. . 2 to- Fishers Island Ferry District Account.No. 1• this amount partially replaces monies previously transferred from Account No. 1 to Account No. 2. Unanimously adopted. In the Matter of The petition for the establishment of a Light District in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York. WHEREAS, a written petition,. dated June 1, 1951, in due form T and containing the required signatures has been presented to and filed with the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York for the establishment of alight District in the said Town, ` r to be bounded and descrtbed as follows: Beginning at a point on the northerly line .of Front Street, at the -Southwesterly corner of land of Arthur A. Levine distant, along the northerly line of Front Street, one hundred (1001) feet from Sixth Avenue, and running thence in a northerly direction along the west- erly line of said land of Arthur A. Levine a distance of one hundred and fifty (1 50' ) feet, more or, less, to a point; running thence in a westerly direction along the northerly line of land of The Knights of Columbus a distance of one hundred and seventy-five (1759 feet, more or less, to a point, running thence in a southerly direction along said land of The Knights of Columbus a distance of fifty ( 501) feet, more or less, to a point; running thence in a westerly dir- ection along said land of The Knights of Columbus and the northerly dine of land of Harry Brown a distance of fifty (501) feet, more or less, to a point; running thence in a southerly directionalong the westerly line of said land of Harry Brown a distance of one hundred and fifty (1501 ) feet, more or less,,. to the northerly side of Front Street; running thence in a westerly direction along the .. northerly line of Front Street a distance of four hundred (4001) feet, more or less., to -the southwesterly corner of land of School District #10; running thence in a northerly direction along the westerly running line of said land of School District #10 a distance of two hundred (2001) feet, more or less, to a point; running thence . in a westerly direction alon the land of Elizabeth Herzog Estate ., a distance of three hundred U0' ) feet, more or less, to -a point; running thence in a southerly direction along the .westerly line of said land of Elizabeth Herzog Estate a distance of two hundred .. (2001). feet, more or less, to the northerly line of Front Street; running thence in a southeasterly direction diagonally across.;F_ ront Street to the southwesterly corner of .the intersection of Front Street y � and Ninth Street; running thence southerly along the westerly line of Ninth Street a distance of fifteen hundred and fifty (155W) feet, more or less, to a point; running thence easterly across -. Ninth Street and along the southerly line of land known as .the Greenport Driving Park, a distance of nine hundred (9001) feet, more or less, to the westerly boundary line of the Village of (Ireenport; running thence in a northerly direction along the :said westerly boundary line of the Village of Greenport to the northerly line of Front Street, a distance of sixteen hundred and seventy-five (16759? feet, more or less; running thence in an easterly direction along the northerly line of Front Street, a distance of seventy.-fivE ' (751 ) feet, more or less , to the point or place of beginning. WHEREAS, the improvements proposed consist of the obtainingg of electrical energy for not..less than 13 and not more than 16 street _ lights; and WHEREAS , the maximum amount proposed. to be expended for the improve- ment -as stated in the said petition is the sum of $300. per annum, it is hereby -=�• ORDERED that a meeting of the Town Board of the said Town. of Southold at 18 South Street, Municipal Building in the Village of Greenport, New York on the 27th day of July 19 51 .at 7:30 P.M. in the evening of -• that day, to consider the said petition and to hear all persons in- terested in the subject thereof, concerning the same, and for such _r. other action an the part of the Town Board with relation to the said petition as may be required by law or proper in the premises. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That General Bills in the sum of $39080.00;Lighting District Bills in the sum of $1,229.72; Fishers Island Ferry District Account No. 1 in the sum of $3, 563. 26; and Fishers Island Ferry District Bills Account No. 2 in the sum of $14,164.77, be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
