-" Meeting of April 24, 1951.
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman
E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tues. , April 24, 1951. The meeting
was called to order at 1:30 P. M. with the following present:
Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tutthill, Albertson and Clark;
Town Superintendent Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town
Clerk Booth.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and were duly
approved as read.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board
will be held at the office of the .Supervisor at Greenport, on
Tues. , May 8, 1951, at 1:30 P. M.

Whereas, it is the intention of the Town Board of the Town of
Southold to establish a Recreation Project and
Whereas, the Town of Southold is about to submit an applicationjpros ct a
to the New York State Youth Commission forits approval, and if
approved, to apply 'subsequently to the State of New York for
partial reinbursment of funds expended on said project, as pro-
vided by chapter 556 of the Laws of 1945, as amended:
Now, Therefore Be It Resolved: That such application is in all
respects approved and Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor, is .hereby
_., directed and authorized to duly execute and to present said
application to the New York State Youth Commission for its
approval.This resolution shall take effect immediately.

Resolved:: That Marion A.- Winters be and hereby is appointed as
Provisional Junior Clerk, to serve in such capacity at the Town
Clerk's. Office, Southold, New York, subject to the approval of
the Suffolk County Civil Service Commission, and
Be It Further Resolved:. That Marion A. Winters be compensated
" for such service in the amount of One Thousand Six Hundred
�., Dollars($1,600.00) per year, and
Be It Further Resolved: That payment forsuch service be made in
regular monthlypayments, and
Be it Further Resolved: That this appointment take effect as of
May 1, 195"

An-'application was read from Charles E. Bates to , the U. S. Army
Corps of Engineers for permission to dredge in front of his
. , property at Greenport.

Resolved: That this Town Board does hereby protest to the U. S.
Army Corps of Engineers , , Public Notice No. 2529, the application
of Charles E. Bates to dredge in Shelter Island Sound at Pipe$
_ Cove, Greenport, an area of 40 feet in width and a distance of
_ 50 feet off shore from mean highwater mark, and about a depth of
4 feet at mean low water mark, to procure fill for a bulkhead in
front of his property.
Unanimously adopted.
The hearing on the matter of purchasing machinery for the High-
way Department which was advertised in accordance with Section
142 of the Highway Law was duly opened at 2:30 oclock P.M. No
person 4-p-p-erared.. before the Board to speak either for or against
the items mentioned in the legal notice. The hearing was duly
`n closed at 3 o 'clock P.M.

Whereas, the Town Superintendent of Highways did on the 24th day
of! April, 19.51, .duly recommend the purchase of certain machinery. - ` •
pursuant„ to the provisions of Section 142 of the Highway Law,and
a notice of such recommendation has been duly published as provided
in such section.
Now Therefore Be It Resolved : That pursuant to Section 142 of the
Highway Law the Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized
to purchase fromMunicipal Machinery Co®, with the approval of the
County Superintendent of Highways:
One (1) Good Roads 10 ft. Sand Spreader for a total price of One
thousand two hundred thirty ..&::: 00/100 - -dollars ($1,230,00) ,delivered
at Peconic, L. I. , 'N. Y..and to be delivered on or about May 15th. ,
1951. The Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized,
subject to the approval '-of the , County' Superintendent of Highways, `
.to surrender to .the above-named vendor One (1) Buckeye 10 ft. Sand < _
Spreader as part payment for the above (machinery), to be purchased.
The terms of payment will be as follows:
Trade-in allowance ;; .. . $300.00 a
Check drawn on Machinery Fund
Check from proceeds of obligations $930.00
total: $ 1,230.00

Whereas, the Town Superintendent of Highways did on the 24th day

a notice of such recommendation has been duly published as pro-
vided in such section.
Now Therefore, Be It Resolved: That pursuant to Sectiq� of the

Resolved: That the Town Board approves an appropriation of the �-
sum of Tem- Thousand Dollars ($109000.00) per year for the
support of the Public Libraries of Southold Town,fmr the years
1952-1953,and that the following proposition be submitted to the +
electors at the next annual election: Shall the sum of Ten Thousand �T
Dollars ($109000.00) be appropriated for the support 'of the public
libraries of Southold Town for the years 1952-19 53 , ,..
