Meeting of March 6, 1951
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman. E.
Klipp at Greenport , on Tues. , March 6, 1951. The meeting was called
to order at 1.:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp ;
Justices' Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and' Clark; Town Superintendent
of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The minutes of .the previous meeting were read and were duly approved
?�••� as read.
Dr. John Wasson appeared before the. Board requesting the Board to
take over a proposed road at blatti.tuck, extending from the Main Road
south to the Bay Boulevard.
Moved -by Justice Tuthill , seconded by Justice Albertson:
Resolved: That when a strip 30 feet in width of the proposed road
is cleared of woods and stumps , ground plowed and harrowed, the Board
-� � will view same and if it is to the sati2facti.on of the Town Board,
the Board will consider taking it over as a public highway.
Unanimously adopted.'
{� George Kaelin appeared before the Board requesting the Board to take
over a proposed road through his property at Arshamomaque.
Moved by Justice Albertson, seconded by Justice Tuthill:
Resolved : That when a strip 30 feet in width of the proposed road is
cleared, plowed and harrowed, the Board will view same , and if it is
to the satisfaction of the Town Board the Board will condider taking
it over as. a public highway.
Unanimously adopted.
Harold Goldsmith and Nelson Axien appeared before the Board regarding
-tvlthe, possibility of the Board taking over a proposed road at Peconic ,
this proposed road would be andextention of Fasbender Ave.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill :
Resolved : That when the permission is granted by all the property
owners over which this proposed road is to extend and a strip 30 feet
' in width - of this proposed road is cleared of woods and stul}ps , ground
plowed rnd harrowed, the Board will view same and if it is to the
satisfaction of the Town Board, the Board will consider taking it over
as a public highway.
Unanimously adopted.
The Board stt as a committee on audit to examine claims against the
Town concluding the audit work at 3 P.1 .

Resolved: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held at
the office of the Supervisor at Greenport , on Tues . , March 20, 1951,
at 1 :30 P.M.

A communication was read from the 11attituck Chamber of Commerce
" requesting the Board to build a sidewalk on Pacific Street at Tiiattituck
extending from Sound Ave. to the ]Main Poad, the Board decided they
would take the matter up at the next budget meeting. They also
- requested a written report from the County Superintendent of Highways
in regard to the survey of waters of Miattituck Creek south of the
Old mill Bridge, the Supervisor stated he would write the County
°�` ' f Superintendenz of Highways for such a report.

A communication was received from the Southold Town Trustees
under date of February 27 , 19519 with a petition signed by 31 •.,
property owners of Goose Bay Estates , Southold, requesting that
Goose Creek Bridge at Southold be elevated to provide a clearance
of 12 feet above mean highwater mark, said petition bearing the
date of August 18, 1950, as the County Engineers have jurisdiction
over the bridge the Supervisor was instructed to take the matter
up with the Ccunty Engineers and repent at a later date.
The Bonds of the following "onstables were presented to the 'Board
for approval.

Insurance Co. in the sum of $500. on behalf of Otto L. Anrig;Bond No. S M-176 ,075 of the American Motorists Insurance Col in.,
the sum of $500. on behalf of Patrick Kelly; Bond No. S N-1769076
of the American Motorists Insurance Co. in the sum of w500.- on � �-
behalf of Henry Y. King; be and the same are hereby approved as
o, form, sum, manner of execution and sufficiency of surety therein.

Resolved : Thy-t the Southold 'Town Board protests the pending
Senate Bill Introductory 1831; relieving the restriction of out of {
state lobstermen taking lobsters from the waters of Fishers Island
Sound on the grounds that Such Legislation will- create an undue
hardship on residents of Southold Township, particularly, those
residing on r'ishers Island, and
Be It Further Resolved : That a copy of this resolution be sent
to the honorable S. 1,11entworth norton, State Senator, and a copy
be sent to Alfred `fucker, Suy;erinter_dent of iviarine 2isheries of
this D(hstrict. A'

Resolved : That Aorman E. i-lipp , Supervisor, Town of Southold,
be and hereby is authorized to transfer from the Revolving Fund
of Archie W. Symonds , former Welfare Ufficer, of ,the 'i'own of
Southold, the amount of Four Thousand Dollars ($4000.00 ) to the
Welfare Account of the 'down of Southold.

Whereas , The commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District
have entered into a contract with the Fishers Island Farms , Inc .
to transport U.S. Mail from and to Fort Wright Dock and Fishers
Island Post Office,
Now Therefore Be It Resolved: That the Town Board of the Town of
Southold approve and it hereby does approve the acts of said
commissioners in entering into said contract.

Now Therefore Be It Resolved : That the Town Board of the Town
T of Southold approve and it hereby does approve the acts of said
commissioners in entering int6 said contract.

The hearing on the matter of purchasing machinery for the Highway
Department which was- ddvertised in accordance with Seetton 142 of
i. the Highway Law was duly opened at 2:30 P.M. . No person appeared
before the Board to speak either for or against the items
mentioned in the legal notice the hearing was duly closed at
3 o 'clock P.M. .

i +REAS , the Town Superintendent of Lighways did on the 6th day
of Larch , 1951, duly recommend the purchase of certain machinery
1 , pursuant to the provisions of Section 142 of the Highway Law, and
a notice of such recommendation has been duly published as provided
in such action,
h=:Oufi THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that pursuant to Section 142 of the
Highway Law the Town Superintendent Of Highways is hereby authorized
to purchase from H. 0. Penn machinery Co. with the approval of
the County Superit-endent of highways : One 212 Caterpillar
;�,iotor Grader wETH Tandem drive dull diesel Motor:---enclosed cab,
cab heater, windshield wiper, lights , electric self-starter; and
leaning f.rormt wheels. for a total price of Eight thousand four
,moo, hundred nineteen & 00/100 - Dollars. ($8,419.0 , delivered at
Peconic , L. I. , 1,%Y. and to be delivered on or about March 15, 1951.
The 'Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized, subject
to the approval of the County Superintendent of Highways , to
surrender to the above-named vender---One - Model 301 Adams Motor
Grader as part payment for the above machinery to be purchased.
The terms of payment will be as follows :
Trade-in allowance 900. 00

pursuant to the provisions of Section 142 of the "highway Law, and
a notice of such recommendation has been duly published as provided
in such action,
