The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp
at Greenport, on Tuesday, January 301 1951. The meeting was .called to
order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp;
Justices Terry; Tuthill;. Albertson and Clark; Town Superintendent of,
Highways Priced Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
Raymond Terry and Frederick Leicht appeared before the Board requestint
the Board to take over a proposed highway, which runs through the prop-
erty of,-Raymond Terry •and, Christopher Leicht only.
The Board stated that it would be necessary for them to build a thirty-
foot toad in width. When completed the Board will view same and if _
satisfactory will consider taking it over as a. publid highway.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and were duly approved

At 2 O'clock P.M. in accordance with a notice published according to law
bids were opened for proposals to furnish the Town of Southold two
2-door sedan standard model automobiles for use as police cars. +r�.

Whereas , the lowest bid was submitted by the Greenport Auto Sales , -y
Now,•. Theerefore Be It Resolved: That the Supervisor be and hereby is �.
directed to enter into a contract with the Greenport' Auto Sales for the
purchase of two 2-door overdrive sedans at a total price of $1394.96. 'r -
Delivery to be made within ninety days .

Rewolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board be
held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport, on Tuesday, February
139 1951, at 1:30 P.M.
Unanimously adopted.
Claims against the Town were audited by the Board. _
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: • *
Resolved: That General Bills in the sum of $696.889 be and the same ;�•
are hereby ordered paid.

Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson:
Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to request the �-
Long Island Lighting Company to remove the aerial street light on
Pole #16 and place it on Pole #5, on West Creek Avenue, ixx the Cutchogue
Lighting District.
Unanimously adopted.
The bond of Radford C. Shanklin was presented to -the Board for approval.
Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That Bond No. 05-510-020 issued by the American Surety Company
in the sum of $1,000. on behalf of Radford C. Shanklin be and the same
is hereby approved as to its form, sum, manner of execution and
sufficiency of surety therein.

Resolved: That on the recommendation of Albert W. Richmond, Rep- �.
ublican County Committeeman, District #10, Town of Southold,
Ellsworth W. Bedell of Peconic, be and hereby is appointed a Special
Constable to direct traffic at the Peconic School Crossing, ata /
salary of $4.00 per day, for each school day worked,retroactive to
January 25, 1951. He to serve at the pleasure of the Board.

appointed Special Constable to serve without pay and at the pleasure
of the Board.

� 1r Whereas , the Education Law places upon the Town Board the duty of pro-
viding and maintaining fireproof rooms , vaults 'or receptables for the
safe keeping of public records , and
Whereas , the Town Law provides that the Town Board may purchase real
estate for any Town purpose, and establish a Town Hall, and
Whereas , it is the considered 'opinion of the members of the Town Board
of the Town of Southold that the acquisition of a building for the-- ___----_
housing 'of Town records is in the best interests of the Town, and ,
( Whereas, it has been determined that premises now owned by the Presby-
terian Church of Southold on the northerly side of Main Road, at
Southold may- be purchased by the Town for $10,000. and the adjacent
( presises owned by the St.- Patricks R.C. Church of Southold May be
— purchased by the Town for $5 000.
Now Therefore Be It Resolved:: That the Supervisor of the Town of
Southold be and he hereby is authorized to enter into negotiations for
the purchase of said premises , to enter into contracts for the .purchase
of same and to pay over 10% of the purchase price upon the signing of the
contracts , to arrange for examination. of the title and to consummate
-� the purchase of said premises , moneys for same to be taken from the
unexpended balances pursuant to the Town Law and the Local Fiance Law. \
