The meeting was called to 'order at 1:30 �P:M. 'with the following present: Supervisor Horton; Justices,'-Terry, Hawkins, Klipp-and--Tuthill'; i-Town"Superinten- dent of Highways , Price , and Town Clerk, Booth. T The Board sat at once as a Committee on audit to examine claims against the Town' concluding the audit at 2 P.M. McNulty and Harold R. Reeve, Commissioners "of the Mat- tituck Park District, appeared before the Board, requesting its ap- --� .proval to purchase a plot in Mattituck to be used for a parking place. The Board statedthey had no objections. - •> Herbert W. Wells appeared before the Town Board, requesting the Board to take over a road on the property of George H. Wells Est. at Peconic. The Board will view the proposed road in the near future. A letter was -read from Mr. Harold I . Gold, commending Police Officer George Wetmore for his efficient services at the seen a of an accident in Orient on Oct. 5, ' 1947. The letter has been turned over to Officer Wetmore. Ito Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Hawkins: Resolved: That General Bills in the amount of $2,864.21 and none- reimbursable Welfare Bills •in the amount of $19.35, be and the same is', here by ordered paid.. Unanimously adopted. Daniel R. Grattan petitioned the Board to take -.over • and -work ,a _highway . on his property at Southold. The Board will view the proposed road in the near future. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Hawkins: Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Co. to install one additional- -street -light on Pole No . 9-J on Village Lane in the orient Lighting District. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Klipp; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That the Superintendent of Highways be and hereby is 4� authorized to purchase from the Good ,Roads Machinery Co. :of New ' 4 -York, N.Y. 10,000. feet of Snow Fence to bedelivered 'at• Peconic-i N.Y. freight prepaid at a total price of $1,608.00 •1 . The vote -was as follows: Yes- 909 ;No- 287 ; . The proposition to appropriate $7500 annually for the fiscal years 1948 and 1949, for the support of- public librarieS in the Town of Southold wa.s duly declared passed. i
