Meeting of August 5, 1947
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor S.
Wentworth Horton, at Greenport , 8n Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1947.
The meeting was called to order at 1 :30 P.M. with the following
present: Supervisor Horton; Justices Terry; Hawkins; Klipp and
Tuthill;. Town Superintendent of Highways , Price; Town Attorney,
Terry and Town Clerk, Booth.
The Board sat. at once as a committee on audit -to examine claims
against the Town concluding the audit at 2:00 P.M.
The minutes of, the previous meeting were read and duly approved
as read.
Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
WHEREAS, , pursuant, to Chapter 535, Laws of 1945, as amended by
y Chapter 436 , Laws of 1946 , the Superintendent of Public Works ,
u, State of New York, has prepared plans for the construction of
three stone jetties on Long Island Sound on Truman Beach in the
Town of Southold , Suffolk County, New York, at a cost not to exceed.
Y.> $12,000.00, now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the -plans and estimates submitted for the cen-
-•r struction of the Uetties be and hereby are approved, and be it
T' FURTHER RESOLVED, that ,it is the intention of the Town of Southold
to participate in sharing the cast of the .wor rk to the extent of
twenty five percent (.25%) of the total cost, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the resolution adopted by this Board on
December 31, 1946, approving plans for the construction of tree
timber jetties be and hereby is rescinded.
Unanimously adopted.
The Town Clerk was instructed to forward a copy of the above resol-
ution to the Clerk of the hoard of Supervisors .

L„ Resolved : That the Town Board hereby authorize the Supervisor to
purchase from the addressograph-Multigraph Corp . one Class 1900
addressograph, equipped as specified in proposal as presented to the
Board at a quoted price of $2,362. 50, delivered, provided, however,
than a second hand addressograph cannot be obtained as was
proposed at this meeting.
Unanimously adopted.
Yr A, petition was presented to the Town Board by legal residents of
the Village of Orient , requesting the Board to pas5the necessary
ordinance, declaring it illegal to park vehicles in the no park-
ing zone, as is now designated on Village Lane , and that an officer
be stationed a specified number of hours daily to' enforce this
ordinance.
Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
Resolved: That a Public Hearing will be held at the office of the
Supervisor at Greenport, on Wednesday, Aug. 27 , 1947, at 2:00 P.M.
_ to consider a proposed ordinance prohibiting the parking of motor
vehicles on the westerly side of Village Lane in the Hamlet of
. Orient.

Resolved: That general Bills in the amount of $2,879.33 and non-
reimbursable Welfare Bills in the amount. of $32.60 be and the
same are hereby ordered paid.
Unanimously adopted.

Resolved: That the schedule presented to the Town Board by the
Superintendent o;g Highways , on the proposed salaries .o em-
ployees of the 4Lighway Department be approved.
Unanimously adopted.

Resolved : What the regular monthly meeting of this Bo�lyd be held on Wednesday, August 27 , 1947 , at 1 :30 P.M. 4 f„

Moved by Justice Hawking ; seconded, by Justice Terry
Resolved: That the Southold Town Board hereby recommends Frank S .
Dawson of New Suffolk, for reappointment as Attendance Supervisor
for the common schools of the Town of -Southold for the year 1947-�PB,
at a salary of $800. per annum, he to pay his own travel expense. i
Said appointment subject to the approval of the District Sup- .
erintendent of Schools and that the Town Clerk be directed to
notify the Superintendent , Harry Be. Ward .of the recommendation of
this Board.
Unanimously adopted.
