Meeting of April 8, 1947
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor S. Wentworth
Horton at Greenport, on Tuesday, April 8, 1947. The meeting was
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor
' Horton; Justices,- Terry, Hawkins, Klipp and Tuthill; Town Superin-
y- tendent;of Highways, Price; Town Attorney, Terry and Town Clerk, Booth.
The minutes of -the previous meeting were read and duly
read. . a pproved as
The Board sat as a committee -on audit to examine claims- against the
Town, concluding the audit at 2 P.M.

The- hearing on the proposed ordinance prohibiting the parking of
motor vehicles on the' easterly side 'of Village Lane at Orient
_ which was carried over from the last meeting was duly 'opened 'at' '
20.clock P.M.
Mr. Edwin H. King appeared before the Board representing a number
of taxpayers in Orient. He spoke in favor ` of no parking on the
-'� westerly side of Village Lane and having erected thereon speed
limit' signs and no parking sions, 'he was also in favor of dropping
the proposed -ordinance for the present time. The hearing was closed
-- at 2; 50 P.M.
Moved by Justice Terry, seconded by Justice Tuthill:
Resolved: That parking of motor vehicles on the westerly side of
�a
Village .lane. in the Hamlet of Orient, from the point of intersection
of the northerly side of Skippers Lane and the westerly side of
--' Village Lane and running northerly along the said westerly side of
Village Lane for a_distance of 310 feet, is hereby prohibited.
�r. Further Resolved:: That the Superintendent of Highways be and hereby
is instructed to erect six speed limit signs reading 112o miles per,
hour" and three "No-parking''signs on Village Lane as heretofore
described.
Be It. Further Resolved: That no action be taken on the proposed
ordinance at the present time.

: Resolved: That General Bills in the amount of $99473.17, and non-
% reimbursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $26.85 be and the same
is hereby ordered paid.

Moved, by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry:
Whereas, a resolution which was adopted by the Town Board on March
'" . 28 1947, requesting. the Long Island Lighting Cojpany to. install
_ unaergrd€and wires in place of the existing wires on Park Ave and
Lake Road, in Mattituck Lighting District #1, is hereby rescinded
as it does not cover the situation* The following. Resolution be
_.i substituted:
Be It Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is instructed to
request the Long Island Lighting Co. to install an underground line
from the existing pole #6 on Park Ave. and running in a westerly dir-
ection 667 feet on Park Ave. to serve the Mattituck Air Base.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Hawkins; seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That the regular majjtlhly meeting of this Board be held on
Friday, April 25, 1947, at 1:30 P.M.
Unanimously adopted. ,
