-l+ Meeting of March 28, 1947
-r The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor S..
Wentworth Horton at Greenport, on Friday, March 28, 1947. The
meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following
-, d present: Supervisor Horton; Justices Terry, Hawkins, Klipp and
Tuthill; Town Superintendent of Highways, Price; Town Attorney
Terry and Town Clerk, Booth.
The .hearing on the proposed ordinance prohibiting the parking of
'`— automobiles on the easterly side of Village Lane in Orient, was
-duly -opened at 2:00 P.M.
Edwin H. King appeared before the board wishing to change the
proposed ordinance to prohibiting the parking of automobiles on
the west side of Village Lane.
- Moved by- Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
<<b. Re.sol.ved: That this hearing be carried over until the next meet-
ing. .
-� Unanimously adopted.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved
-.r as read.
Moved by Justice Klipp; seconded by-Justice Terry:
- = Whereas, Bids were submitted for payment for Southold Town High-
way bonds at the office of the Supervisor March 28, 1947.
-, Be It Resolved: That Town of.', Southold Highway Bonds in the amount
of $12,000. be sold to the Mattituck National Bank and Trust Co.
..-to bear interest at the rate of one -and 4/10 (1.41.). per centum per
annum.

Otis Burt, newly elected Mayor' of the Village of-Greenport, ap-
peared before the Board to see if some arrangements could be
rude with the Town Board to maintain the streets in the Village of
Greenport. After a lengthy discussion the Board decided to lay
the matter on the table until the next meeting.
Moved by Justice Klipp; seconded by Justice Terry:
_ y Resolved: That the Superintendent of Highways be and hereby
is instructed to lower the north end of the Sound Road at
- � Greenport .to eliminate as many'! ,,, as possible of the steps leading
T , to the sound beach.
Unanimously adopted.
, Moved by.-Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is instructed to
request the Long Island Lighting Co. to install' underground
wires in place of the existing wires on Park Avenue and Lake
.'Road, at Mattituck, in the Mattituck Lighting District. At
r, present these roads are not public highways, but will -be taken
over as such by the Town Board as soon as the necessary papers are
' signed.

Moved by Justice Hawkins- seconded by Justice Tuthill:
--_— Resolved:. That the schedule of the police, presented by the
Chief of Polibe be accepted.
Unanimously ,adopted.

Moved by Justice Klipp; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
Whereas, Congress has authorized and directed the Board of Eng-
ineers, U.S. Army to cause to investigate the practicability of a
proposed project to construct a barrier from Fort Tyler to the
-i + mainland of Gardiners Island to take the place of the sand beach
which formed a former protective barrier, and which has been com-
pletely 'sewpt away,
And Whereas, This gown Board of the Town of Southold believes
that this protect is in the public interest and that the pro-
tection afforded by such a proposed breakwater is very necessary '
in the interest of navigation, shore front property, and oyster
cultureq;
Now Therefore _ be it resolved that we endorse this proposed pro-
ject and hope that it may receive the approval which we feel it
merits., }�

The undersigned does hereby certify that purauant to the powers �s
delegated to him as Supervisor of the Town .of Southold, N.Y. ,
in and by .a resolution of the Town Board of such Town adopted
on March 28, 1947, he has this day:
1. Fixed the date of the serial bonds authorized in such
resolution as of the first day of April, 1947.
2. Fixed the date upon which such bonds shall become due,, r
as follows: No. 1 on April 1, 191+8; No. 2 on April 1, .
1949; No. 3 on April 1,. 1950; and No. 4 on April 1, ..
1951.
3. Fixed the interest rate on such bonds at 1.4 per centum
per annum to be paid semi-annually on the ls.t day of ' r _' .
October and April in each year during the life of the .

The undersigned does further certify that such bonds were this day
sold to The Mattituck National Bank and Trust -Company at private
sale. '-

Resolved: That the regular meeting of the Town Board be held on
