HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-11/07/1946 5() Meeting of Nov. 7 , 1946 The Southold Town Board met at the office of 6upervisor S. Went- worth Horton, at Green-port on Thursday, Nov. 7 , 1946. The meet- ing was called to order at L:30 with the following present :. Supervisor Horton; Justices Terry, Hawkins, Klipp and Tuthill; Town. Superintendent of Highwayy Price; Town Att_arney Terry and Town Clerk, Booth. The Board sat. at once as a committee on audit to examine claims against the Town, concluding the audit at 2 P.M. This Town Board has met at the time and place specified in the notice of public hearing on the preliminary budget and as there were no interested persons having appeared before the Board to speak either for or against any of the items in the proposed budget, the hearing on the budget wasformally closed at 2 :15 P.Ij. Moved by Justice Klipp , seconded- by Justice Tuthill on roll call was unanimously adopted : Resolved : That this; Town Board does hereby adopt such preliminary budget as originally compiled; as the annual budget of this Town for the fiscal year beilinning on the First day of January, 1947 ; and that such budget as so adopted be entered in detail in the minutes of the proceedings of this Town Board as follows : Highway Fund 77,000.00 . No person appeared _ before the Board to speak against the items mentioned in the legal notice published in the Town newspapers. The hearing was -- closed at 2;20 P.M. Moved by Justice Klipp, seconded by Justice Hawkins : Whereas the Town Superintendent of Hfghwasy did on the 7th day of November, 1946, duly recommend the purchase of certain maahin- ery pursuant to the provisions of Section 142 of the Highway Law, and a notice of such recommendation has been duly published as provided in such action, Now, Therefore Be It Resolved : That pursuant to Section 142 of the Highway Law, the Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized to purchase from Vail Bros. , with the approval of 5S the Gounty Superintendent of Highways one Four-Door Packard Clipper Sedan for a total price of $2', 012. 52 to be delivered at Peconic on or about Nov. 8, 1966. x The Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized, sub- ject .to the approval of the County Superintendent of Highways , t. - to surrender to the above named vendor one Packard Sedan as part payment of the above machinery to be purchased. Trade-in al- lowance $1,012.52. . Check drawn on machinery fund $1,000.00 Total $2,012.53. - r Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Hawkins , seconded by Justice Terry : Whereas , Robert R. Brown has petitioned the Southold Town Board to transfer its franchise from Sunrise Goach .Lines to Sunrise Coach Lines , Inc .Now, Therefore Be It Resolved : That Robert R. Brown the petition- er is hereby granted permission to transfer its franchise from the Sunrise Goach Lines to the Sunrise Coach Lines , Inc . Unanimously adopted. Moved. by Justice Terry, 'seconded by Justice Klipp : Resolved : That the Town Board approve the Bond of Justice Ralph W. Tuthill as to its form and sufficiency of surety. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Tuthill, seconded by Justice Hawkins : Resolved : That William Granger of Mattituck be and he hereby is appointed a constable for the Town of Southold to .temporary vacancy effective as of November 11, 1946, and terminating on January 15, 1947, at $6.00 per day and milage of 6¢ per mile, not to exceed $2.00 per day. He to use his own car. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Klipp , seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved : That the pay of the Special Constables on school crossing :duty be set at $4.00 per day for each school day, effective as of Nobember 11, 1946, covering Orient,- Greenport, Southold ,. Cutchogue and Mattituck. Unanimously adopted. Street lighting contracts between the Southold Town Board and The Long Island Lighting Co. were signed by the Town Board, Cutchogue and New Suffolk which expire on Oct. 14, 1951. -Moved' by :Justiee Terry, seconded by Justice Tuthill Resolved :.
