. The Southold ,own Board met at the office of Supervisor S. Went-
worth Horton, ' at Greenport, on Tuesday, October 29, 1946.. The
meeting was called to. order at 1 :30 P.M. with the following
present : Supervisor Horton; Justices Terry, Hawkins and Klipp,-
" , Town. Superintendent of Highways, Price; Town. Attorney, Terry and
c Town Clerk, Booth.
The minutes of the- previous meeting were read and duly approved
as read.
-- � Moved, by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Klipp :
Be. It Resolved : That Ghief of Police, Otto L. An-rig be and here-
by isauthorized to employ extra help to maintain order on HalB
loween, Special Officers compensation to be fixed at $8.00 per
night, they to furnish their own cars.

' Moved by Justice Terry, seconded by Justice Lipp :
Resolved : That Henry Karcher of Orient be and hereby is ap-
pointed a Special Constable to direct traffic. at the Orient schoall
' crossing at a salary of $3.00 per day. r-r

Moved by Justice Terry, seconded by Justice Hawkins :
Whereas , due to the increased cost of labor and material there is
not enough money in Item 1 of the gighway fund to complete our
program of oiling Town Highways.
Now, Therefore Be It Resolved : That the Superintendent of
Highways, be and hereby is authorized to request the County Super-
intendent of Highways , Harry T. 'l'uthill,' to release $4,000. of
__ . our reserve fund -reserved in the hands of Supervisor S. Wentworth
to complete this work before cold weather.
Unanimously adopted.
A Public Hearing will be held at the `'upervisor's Office at
} Greenport , N.Y. on Thursday, Nov. 7 , 1946 ,. at 2 :15 P.DA. to con-
sider the recommendation of the Superintendent of Highways for
the purchase of machinery and equipment in excess of $500. in
accordance with Chapter 1.42 of the Highway Law.
Moved by Justice Hawkins , . seconded by Justice Klipp :
Resolved : That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board
be held on Thursday Nov. '? , 1946 at 1 :30 P.M.
Unanimously adopted.
