J Meeting of August 14, 1946
The Southold Town Board made its annual trip to Fishers Is]Land
an Wednesday, Aug. 142 1.9462 leaving Pr.estons Dock at Gree.nport
'at 9 :30 A.M,. on Capt. Raynor Wickham's Boat.
t' The Board reached Fishers Island at 12 M. After lunch. on the
'boat the Board was met at the dock by Justice Shanklin who took
them in his car to view the road which the Fishers Island Estates
has petitioned the Town Board to take over and maintain as a
public highway.
_ i The Hoard then journeyed ,to the auditorium of the Fishers Island
�- School where the annual meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M.
with the following present : ,Supervisor Horton; Justices Hawkins,
Shai.klin' and Klipp ; Town Superintendent of H ghways Price and
.., Town IClerk Booth. Also at the meeting were ounty Superintendent
of Highways H.L. Tuthill; C.T. Williamson of the Suffolk County
TO Mosquito Extermination Commission; Chief Otto L. Anrig and Geo—
rge G. Tuthill and a large delegation of Fishers Island residents.
�. y Supervisor Horton opened the meeting with briff remarks , gave a
--a review of the inspection of. the road in question and asked for
` discussions. Supt. Price also added some suggestions in" regard
to taking over the road.
Mr. Haines and several ' of the Fishers Island residents reacted
favorably- to the, proposition under discussion.
There was a lengthy discussion of the fire hydrants and street
` Tights throughout the Fishers Island districts.
Mr. C.L. Williamson` of the Mosquito Commission spoke on the
effective work they were doing ppraying by airplane in killing
all sorts .of insects. He stated that D.D.T. was not harmful to
wildlife.
Mr. H.T. Tuthill, County Supt. of Highways , spoke on beaah
erasion. on the Atlantic Seabord.
y�M _ It was agreed that the regular audit meeting of the Town Board
be held on Tuesday, September 19, 1946, at 1:30 P.M.
> The meeting adjourned at 3 :30 P.M.
